http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x8798814Oh my.
I went to the lounge to see what's happening.
Apparently the tomcat primitive wrote this before the news broke.

The move is done...
I can't thank people enough who came out here to move me into my new place. JennaLaw, JonnyBlitz, La LionessPriyanka, Rockit, and friends from Buffalo who came down to help. It was a hell of a lot of work.
Unfortunately, a bunch of friends who said they would help bailed out, and that made things harder for the people who did show up to help. It was a lot of work, and I couldn't do anything to help.
Now, after all of that I'm going over the financials an I've entirely drained my 401k. It's empty. I'm now draining my IRA, and it never had much in it even before the recent economic bust cut it in half. So I'll only be able to survive a few months on my IRA.
If my disability insurance and/or my social security don't come through in the next few months then the game is over. Both are past due. I should have had them by now. But the delays continue. If they don't get resolved in the next few I'll lose everything and end up homeless. I'll have absolutely no more resources to tap. Please keep your fingers crossed.
How long's Ma and Pa Kettle been in the White House?
I thought Pa Kettle was supposed to have taken care of this by now, everybody's financial woes?

1. Damn.
I've had my issues but at least I can still work and provide for myself...I hope your insurance comes through SOON. What an awful racket getting disability insurance is...
The tomcat primitive can still work and provide for himself.

6. It really is a racket.
It's a whole lot of paperwork...waiting...more paperwork...more waiting...
Then...eventually...they send you to a doctor.
Then...eventually...you hear that they want to send you to have your depression reviewed by somebody. What depression? Just process my claim already.
Working for a living cures depression a lot better than pharmaceuticals.
And no chemical damage to the brain, either.

12. Holy shit! I hope she was able to get that overturned.
That really seems like some bureaucrat got a raise somewhere for coming up with nitpicking above and beyond the call of duty for that one.

2. I wish you well in the new place, Thom, and will certainly keep my fingers crossed though it makes it really hard to type.
I'm sorry I wasn't there to help - the commute from California is just a killer.
I know disability and social security can be a nerve-wracking wait - my brother recently went through this. I'm not sure how long it ended up taking but he did get it all squared away before he was completely out of funds and hopefully that will be the case with you too. You don't need that stress.

7. I am very glad it came through for your Brother.
I hope it comes through for me too.
If it doesn't then I'll be offline an in a shelter somewhere. I'm at the point of seriously considering that.
What is this, a pity-party?

8. Thank you.
I really hope this comes through on time. I really don't want to see the inside of a shelter again.
Again.....how long's Ma and Pa Kettle been in the White House?

10. If it had been possible
I would have loved a chance to see you.
I would have felt guilty meeting you and then immediately putting you to work though.

5. Good luck, Thom.
It must be a huge relief to have the move over and done with. I'll keep thinking good thoughts for your insurance and SS payments soon. You do what you need to and then keep the faith...

13. I'm doing whatever I can. Unfortunately, most of what I can do is worry. And worrying isn't very productive.
I'm starting to think that the ability to light a bonfire on Skins's island should be cause for automatic disapproval of social security disability. Posting takes intellectual effort, and if one has enough intellectual effort to post, one should be able to work for a living.

15. Hi Thomcat..
My Uncle is going through the same thing with his disability....how long ago did you apply for social security?
The tomcat primitive seems to have disappeared from this bonfire shortly before this; perhaps he got the news about the California Supreme Court.
