Powell: 'I am still a Republican'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Former Secretary of State Colin Powell struck back Sunday at critics of his decision to support Barack Obama's presidential candidacy last year.

Calling for his divided party to widen its ranks, Powell declared, "I am still a Republican."

In an appearance on CBS' Face the Nation, Powell responded to attacks from former Vice President Dick Cheney and talk show host Rush Limbaugh, saying they are "not members of the membership committee of the Republican Party."

"Rush will not get his wish, and Mr. Cheney was misinformed. I am still a Republican", he said. "I would like to point out that in the course of my 50 years of voting for presidents, I have voted for the person I thought was best qualified at that time to lead the nation. Last year, I thought it was President Barack Obama. For the previous 20 years, I voted solidly for Republican candidates."

I'll give them that, Powell is a liar which is why there is little doubt he is a Democrat.

I was listening to one of the talk shows this past week--might have been Rush, who had on Dick Morris at the time . . . maybe it was Hannity.  Anyway, what Morris said was this:  Colin Powell was the one who went to the UN and trumpeted that we knew that Iraq had WMDs to help build the case for war in '03.  We haven't found any.  (We will, lurking DUmb****s.)  Powell is looking to rehabilitate his legacy right now, and the way to do that is to attack Rush and the conservatives in the Republican Party.  It'll sit well with some of the Left, but not all; and it alienates the Right.  Pretty soon, Powell will be a man without an ideology that claims him as one of their own.

Colin Powell is a traitor of the worst kind. He sways in whichever breeze that will pat him on the back. He voted for Bam Bam purely for race. You will never convince me otherwise!

What is worse, IMO, is that Powell had to know Armitage was the leaker in the Plame affair and both of them let Scooter Libby twist in the wind.

Colin Powell's behavior has been and continues to be disgusting.
