That really is me.  The partial head is my little brother.  He is 25 months younger than me.

I loved wearing that bow tie.  I was trying to somehow grasp a deeply forgotten recollection of the day that photo was taken.  I came up with some flashes of memory.  I remember the bow tie.  It was a clip-on.  I remember our mother being very fussy about our appearance that day.  It became my job to keep by brother's tie in place.  The little sh*t was not cooperating.  It was an omen of life ahead.

I feel your pain, as #2 of 6, I was also saddled with the responsibility of making sure the younger sibs were well behaved and put together.

I love that picture, the fact that it is really you makes it all the more endearing. Your slicked hair, bow tie and boyish good looks really shine through.

My third grandmother, my dad's stepmother, who I never got to see very often but whom I always loved, used to pull me aside at every meeting to let me know she always thought I was the best looking one "in that family"  "I tell everyone about you".   You'd have to know her to know how natural that was for her.  That lady was a hoot!

She died on my 28th birthday.

Edit:  I must add that I had these incredible aqua-blue eyes when I was a child, which mesmerized everyone who saw them.  Strangers on the street use to come up and talk about my eyes.  Every girl in the world wanted to stare into them.

Now they are just a dull blue-gray.  Ageing is a cruel invention.

Your grandmother sounds like a great lady and you have many fond memories of her.

My eyes were always a light green/gray, a kind of interesting combination. When my grandma died, her eyes were yellow, I fear I am headed towards that same hue.  :lmao:

This REALLY is me in September 1970.  It was my senior year.  I had turned 16 in June.  I had no idea the yearbook photographers would be there that morning.  It was raining and I was wearing a t-shirt.  This was the best I could do with a comb in a pinch.  The school always wanted their annual out by the end of October.    Of course, we had the privilege of submitting our own studio photographs by the end of September.  I didn't care THAT much.

I don't know so much about it being the 70's.  Jimi Hendrix died about three days later and Joplin lived about three weeks more.  And believe me or not, Stevie Ray Vaughan, who was a junior, was standing around in the crowd behind the auditorium curtain, to be photographed after we seniors.   Of course, at that time, I didn't give a flip about Stevie Ray Vaughan.  He was just a guy I knew who had a dad who worked with my dad.  This photo was before Stevie asked me to sing in his band.

You guys are adorable!!! And handsome!!!

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
