Kids locked out of White House; officials say they were too late
Thursday was supposed to be the highlight of the year for more than 100 kindergarteners from Stafford County, Va. They got up early and took a chartered bus to the White House for a school field trip. But when they arrived, all the 5-year-olds got was a lesson in disappointment.

A group of young students didn't get to tour the White House, and they say it's because of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The buses from Conway Elementary arrived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a little later than planned, and they were locked out.
"We were going to the White House, but we couldn’t get in so I felt sad," 5-year-old Cameron Stine said.
Parents say they were just 10 minutes late for their scheduled tour. School officials say White House staff said they needed to get ready for the president's luncheon with the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers, so they couldn't come in.
"I was angry cause they were disappointed," parent and chaperone Paty Stine said.

Could you imagine the outcry if this occurred during the previous administration? It would go on for days.

Let nothing frighten you.

God never changes.
Patience attains all that it strives for.
He who has God lacks nothing:
God alone suffices.

President Obama enjoys his new Steelers jersey after making children cry.

This pic and the caption is from NBC Washington, is the bloom of love starting to fade?

The white house said that they were 45 minutes late, not 15.  Of course, there is the issue of the honesty level at the white house, but it really is the responsibility of the school staff to get them there on time.   You budget for traffic

The parents had to pay $20 per kid for the bus, and the kindergartners had to be cleared through security procedures.  The school staff really should have been more responsible.

I could see giving the kids the cold shoulder if the ruritanian ambassador was waiting with a declaration of war, but a football team could have been made to accommodate the school kids.  If they had been given the option, they probably would have.  Dosnt' do the steelers any good either.

Again you're assuming the WH staff is being honest.

I tend to believe the teachers over anyone in the Obama administration.

As I said earlier if you're ONLY 10 minutes late anywhere in D.C. that time of day..you're on time.

I must have a horrible reputation if anyone thinks that of me.

And how close to time is 0bama's definition of "on time?"  Clinton had the reputation that if he showed up the same week, he was on schedule.  Bush II met his schedules to the millisecond.

But the teachers are semi adults, and should have realized where they stand in the scheme of things in the 0bama world.  I would not be the least bit surprised if the 0bama people decided to blow them off anyway, but giving them the least excuse is their responsibility.
