In other words: Pelosi wants to call the CIA a bunch of liars and then refuse an investigation of the charge all the while hiding behind the recession as an excuse to ignore her own allegations. It is reminiscent of the time the GOP threw Murtha's Out-of-Iraq-Now resolution onto the house floor to have it voted down 304-4 with Murtha himself voting against his own resolution.

The odds of any meaningful "Truth Commission" is now effectively ZERO because this is an abject concession on Pelosi's part. It's hard to call for prosecution of Bush officials when you won't even investigate the people you claim actively lied to you. With Cheney and the GOP acting in a defiant "Yeah, I'd do it again" mode with the polls solidly on their side the last thing they want is an open discussion of how Bush pro-actively sought legal opinion, the opinion supported his actions and the congress--Pelosi included--acquiesced vis-a-vis their silence. If the methods actually produced solid results that saved lives then the dems are reallly sunk. No on from our side is going to be tried for diddly-squat no matter how bad DU wants to drum-up charges. "Shut-up and eat your healthcare (which is actually in doubt)," is all the dem leadership has for its masses of asses.

Another good "put up or shut up" move.  We know the ins and outs, but will the general public get it on their own?  I'm doubtful.

Maybe not at first but Mr Cheney seems reluctant to allow a bunch of meely-mouthed shitbags dictate history.

You know, the idea of a "Truth Commission" comming from the Congress seems an oxymoron  to me. I find it irritating that the words "truth" and Congress(wo)man appear in the same sentence or phrase.  I never thought I'd feel this way, but the velocity of lying has gotten so high these last 10 years or so I just cannot feel any other way.
