(CNN) -- A Minnesota judge issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for the mother of Daniel Hauser, a 13-year-old boy who is refusing treatment for his cancer, after neither she nor the boy showed up for a court appearance.


Doctors say Daniel Hauser's lymphoma responded well to a first round of chemotherapy in February.

5. Why do people think children are their PROPERTY?
   Get a grip, they're just on loan to you and you can decide some things for them, but if you start risking their lives, the state has a vested interest in stepping in.

I hope this mother is ready to have a dead kid because if she manages to delay his treatment much longer, that's what she'll have.

   In a written statement issued last week, an attorney for the parents said they "believe that the injection of chemotherapy into Danny Hauser amounts to an assault upon his body, and torture when it occurs over a long period of time."

I bet if it their son had committed the sin of having gay sex, they'd feel a LOT differently about his ability to "choose." Or if their daughter had chosen to have an abortion without their consent.

The truth is that I actually agree. I think the age of majority should be closer to 14 than 18. But even still, I can smell hypocrisy a mile away.

It always comes back to queer sex and baby killing.

14 year olds should not be given the ability to choose whether or not a medical procedure is good for them.

THEY ARE ****ING 14. I had no clue about a lot of the things being done to me at 14 and I was in neurologists every few weeks for years as a kid. They told me to take a pill and I took it. They told me to get an MRI and I got one. I had no real concept of what was really wrong with me until after I was cured.

So 14 is too young to be making decisions about abortion, right?

8. Apparently his tumor has gotten larger.
   So the delay in treatment is becoming critical. The odds for his survival decrease as the tumors increase in size and number. I hope they find him soon and put him in foster care, where the judge should have put him in the first place.

If he dies, I hope his parents are charged and sent to jail.

Yes.  Jail is the answer.  If the mother had murdered the boy 13 years ago she would be a DU Medal of Honor Winner.

They are right about chemo being an assault on the body.  It amounts to nothing more than feeding the cancer patient dangerous amounts of chemicals in the hope that you kill the cancer before you kill the patient.  Reasonably, this is probably the modern version of blood letting to cure the flu.  That being said, generally doing something is probably better than doing nothing.

I know she was still working when I started back in September.  She hasn't been around for a couple months.  She resigned her job last week to spend time with her family and passed away yesterday.  She had given up on treatment recently.

2 of my sister's in law had breast cancer this last year. Both had to undergo chemo, both survived and are now in remission. Just sayin'........

A deer hunting buddy of mine had a pretty aggressive tumor in a lung, and the tumor was wrapped around his heart.  He went to the Cancer Treatment Center hospital in the Philly area, where he lived, and the tumor went into remission . . . until last fall, when it came back with a vengeance and my buddy had some bad reactions to the experimental drugs that were being used.  He died on May 1st.  I was at a memorial service in the small town he grw up in, Saturday.  He never gave up.  Even though he was drawing his last breaths of the air on the Earth, he felt that he could beat it.  Yet, he was at peace and ready to die.

I know watcha mean. I just lost my best friend to liver cancer a few weeks ago. He was the same way. He knew it was pretty much a forgone conclusion, but fought it the whole way. I've pretty much adopted his son for the duration. He was my age. I now enjoy every day as if it is my last.

I met his son--tall, handsome kid.  Plays D-1 hockey at UConn.  He'll be alright, and the guy's wife will be too.  The guy's mother will have loads of support in that small town.
