California Goes Bust
« on: May 15, 2009, 12:41:30 AM »

(CNN) -- Faced with a projected $42 billion deficit, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says his office will send out 20,000 layoff notices Tuesday if lawmakers fail to reach a budget deal before then, according to a spokesman.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger warned lawmakers about potential job cuts last week.

The Republican governor, who declared a fiscal emergency in December, has butted heads for months with the Democratic majority over alleviating the state's $11.2 billion revenue shortfall.

He warned lawmakers about the cuts last week, urging them to approve the latest budget proposal.

<snip>

Running short of cash, California last month started delaying $3.5 billion in payments to taxpayers, contractors, counties and social service agencies so the state could continue funding schools and making debt payments.

"The real-life impact will be the slowdown -- the actual shutdown -- of hundreds of state funded transportation projects, people not getting paid, taxpayers not getting refunds," said Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento.

Hmmmm...leave a bunch of true blue liberals running a state for too long and what happens??? California, the state with the highest taxation system and most social programs goes bankrupt.
Now imagine this on a larger playing field...the U.S.A and we'll follow.....liberals will destroy this country if we don't get out and vote next year and start taking power away from them.

I don't know but we should build a fence around Californicate to keep the socialist liberals that caused the mess confined in the mess they created.

Son went out Wedesday night to put some fliers in mailboxes.....Scout project for I know not what.....he came back with 2 bumper snickers. They were a quote from the Iron maiden, Mrs Thatcher. He gave one to a friend at school and pasted one on his locker at school. Went something like ........

"Socialism is fine until you run out of other peoples money"

California.....you have run out of other peoples money. :-)

The first time Arnold ran I voted for him. After he showed his "true" colors, IE: overspending, stupid polices (lets spend 15 billion on illegals, hows THAT going Arnie??) capitulating to the DEMs and, for all intents and purposes, switching to Liberalism, I can't wait for this azzhole to be out of office.

I like that one....what's even more funny is I was looking through my rule book for the game Warhammer 40,000 the other day. In it are various sayings and proverbs from characters in the game universe. I found one for The Obumbler on page 53....

"Hope is the begining of unhappyness"

Judjing by the reaction of the various looney lefties to The Obumbler's actions, this is so true.....and I love it!!!

Well, as California goes, so does the whole country. They were told that they were an expirement in socialism back in 2002, and they have absolutely no control over their illegal immigration problem. There's scads of tax increases on the ballot that are going to be voted down very soon, chaos reigns.

That's an old and distant truth.  Now it's Texas and Florida.  California is a toilet.

I believe California goes to the polls on Tuesday the 19th, (tomorrow) to vote on surrendering their paychecks to the state.

That we do.  There aren't any really controversial propositions on the ballot; they are all related to the budget, so I expect the turnout will be fairly low.  Hopefully most of the liberals won't bother coming out.

Well Florida swung to the left last election season..but not by a significant majority...and anyone you speak to here is disgusted in Obama...(with exception of the hardcore sheeps)  Charlie Crist has done right by us...but rumor is he's going for a senate run...not a bad guy to have in the Right column.

Aren't there a lot of tax raises on the ballot?  I've been hearing that Arnie has been pushing for people to get out and vote.

Yes, there are a lot of tax raises, and of course we've had all sort of commercials telling us that the economy will collapse, and the schools will suffer, if we don't vote for them.  Too bad, so sad, I'm voting no and I doubt that I'll ever regret it.

Same here, every one of the measures has some sort of BS that lets the Dems off the fiscal hook.

A lot of places turned "blue" in the last election.  They're just bruises and will resort back to a healthy color soon.

The idea is that states like Florida and Texas do not have a state income tax (Texas NEVER will - it's in the State Constitution), and they do not treat industry as enemies.  Those are the keys to prosperity.

You must still live in California (see how quick I am on the uptake?), so thank you for voting (right)!!! I was already long gone when it came time to recall Gray Davis, I thought the state was a mess then.

I hope CA isn't a belweather state anymore, FL or TX would be fine by me. Texas between the two, though, Florida has a high sales tax, just like WA state, IL, and New Yawk.

Die, Prop1A, die!!! Accotding to this poll, I'll get my wish: http://www.bizjournals.com/losangeles/stories/2009/05/11/daily41.html?ana=from_rss

The whine should be strong tomorrow.
