That last press conference Pelosi gave was a disaster.

I think we can expect Pelosi to resign as Speaker within the next few days. At this point, she is a liability to her party. I think Steny Hoyer is probably trying to schedule an appointment to see her right about now, in order to break the news to her. The only question in my mind is how hard she will dig in her heels. She may survive the storm, but I doubt it.

......and they certainly ain't praying.

Considering the animosity that exists between her and Hoyer...if it were Rep. Hoyer that was to deliver that particular message it would errupt into a circular firing squad within the Democrat party.

The worst thing about this is that she is further dividing the country. Now, the whole nation is forced to decide who is trustworthy. The CIA or the Speaker of the House? Either way, people will lose some faith in their government.

The intelligence community already has a bad image in the minds of many people. This liar is now suggesting that the CIA would actually lie to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who is third in line to the office of the President (Lord, help us). Enough people will believe Pelosi (you know the type) that the image will be even more tarnished now. That will make it harder for the populace to believe the CIA whenever the CIA tells us about real threats to the USA, which will delay our response to those threats. It will also make it politically possible for Obama to further hamstring the CIA, and for Congress to cut funding. And the morale of the agents in the field after all this? Don't even ask. All this is to save Pelosi's ass. I hope she is enjoying herself.

This issue is a gift from God to conservatives (I almost said GOP, my bad).

First, this is a non-issue for most Americans who are perfectly content to see terrorists made to give up operational information and would probably help if they could with far fewer moral and legal reservations.

Second, the dems are showing they are more worried about terrorists being comfortable than they are about Americans having to decide whether to jump 100 stories to their death or dying in an unholy conflagration.

Third, Nancy is calling the CIA liars but is demonstrably lying herself and comically so. The next time liberals say, "Bush and his CIA lied us into a war" it will be laughable because of SanFranNan and her antics.

Fourth, her obviously self-serving, politicizing dishonesty and the balance of the democrat party's refusal to end this non-sense is washing back onto them because she is their chosen leader.

Fifth, Obama back-tracked on tribunals, wiretapping and more importantly releasing the EIT photos because his defense apparatus is all but in coup mode for the simple cause of self-preservation from BS indictments with genuine and severe consequences...but Nancy is ruining whatever gestures he's making to back away from his own foolishness.

The issue isn't even about torture anymore; it's about how liberals are a bunch of schmucks.

You guys should check out the DUmp. It USED to be 2:1 "Obama is beating the rethugs at political chess" the trend has now reveres itself to "He's protecting the monarchy"

Oddly, ALL of them have chosen to believe SanFranNan about being lied to the only question now is whether Obama is complicitous or lulling the evil-doers into a trap.

San Fran Nan is too unselfconsciously stupid, stubborn, and self-centered to voluntarily step down as Speaker, that will not happen unless and until there is a coup in the Democrat caucus...which is not really out of the question, as much as she crapped all over most of the other senior Dems to get the Speaker's chair.

I dunno.

She runs with the Murtha crowd and they are entrenched like the parasites they are. They have no intention of doing anything ethical particularly if it means self-sacrifice.

If the blue dogs try to break away Rahm's general aire of "message discipline" will be in tatters...not that that is a bad thing but the last thing they want is for a major power struggle resulting in independent thought.

THOUGHT EXPERIMENT: Imagine if this had blown-up and then played out with a blue dog revolt BEFORE the stimulus bill was passed.

She will tramp out her favorites, Fat Barney, Reid, Teddy boy, to speak about her unimpeachable character. How dare us turn on her, don't we know It's all Bush-Cheny's doing?

CIA Director Leon Panetta challenged House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s accusations that the agency lied to her, writing a memo to his agents saying she received nothing but the truth…

Panetta, President Obama’s pick to run the clandestine agency and President Clinton’s former chief of staff, wrote in a memo to CIA employees Friday that “CIA officers briefed truthfully on the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, describing ‘the enhanced techniques that had been employed,’” according to CIA records.

“We are an agency of high integrity, professionalism and dedication,” Panetta said in the memo. “Our task is to tell it like it is — even if that’s not what people always want to hear. Keep it up. Our national security depends on it.”
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/cia-director-fires-back-at-pelosi-2009-05-15.html

And Pelosi's silence during the intervening years was consent.

It follows like this:

When it comes to defense of the nation the president has full Art II authority to do pretty much whatever he damn well pleases (ref. Fed Paper #23) so long as it was, in fact, for legitmate prosecution of national security goals. If he abuses that authority his ass is in a sling.

Alas, there have been abuses or the appearance of abuses in the past and as such congress has passed laws demanding that select members of the House and Senate are briefed. Now these laws are essentially unconstitutional as an infringement of one branch onto another but neither side has pushed them up to SCOTUS because neither side wants to be the loser of so massive a fight so, like the War Powers Act, the president pretends to care while congress pretends to be competent to judge such matters.

The reason why it is only select members of the House and Senate is because everybody but the Paulestinians and Kiucinuts understands there would be no national security if everything was debated in an open congress.

So when these select members are briefed their opportunity to voice concerns is then and there. Harman did as much in 2003 with her private letter...which SanFranNan elected not to sign. As Harman was the only real voice of opposition among the 8 or so members in attendance what essentially happened was a legislative endorsement of those policies as if the president had engaged in some military endeavor and the full congress passed a resolution endorsing the action after the fact.

The legality of EITs is gradually being affirmed while the dems make fools of themselves on multiple levels before the entire nation.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Barney isn't going to put his neck out there, he still stinks of Freddy's Fannie - and Reid is up for reelection in 2010 - Ohole is campaigning for him...Teddy can call in sick and watch from the sidelines.

Barney can roll Pelosi over and tell her to take it like a man. The rest will watch.

More to the point, among DemonCrap factions, Stenny Hoyer is the 0bamster's guy (long time friend of Rahm).  SanFranNan and her entire faction (to include Murtha****er, etc.) are not.  Notice how the - 0bama fellating - Propaganda media is keeping this story alive, the more Bella Pelosi talks the more like a corrupt idiot she looks, and notice especially who is getting the hell out of her way, and letting her look like an idiot. Der Fuhrer, Emmanuel, hell Hoyer even suggested (reluctantly, we're told :II: ) that the discrepancies in Madame Speaker's statements need to be looked into by a committee a couple of days ago.

If Bella Pelosi isn't taking a political dirt nap before the 4th of July recess, I'll be extraordinarily surprised.

Gibbs dodges Pelosi question
The White House wants nothing to do with this Nancy Pelosi fight with the CIA.

Not long after CIA Director Leon Panetta put out a statement sticking by his agency, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs dodged a question about whether Pelosi was right in questioning the CIA.

"I think you've heard the president say this a number of times: the best thing we can do is to look forward," Gibbs said. "I appreciate the invitation to get involved in here, but I'm not gonna RSVP,"

That slurping sound is Gibbs drinking his cup of STFU.  :coffee:

Pelosi softens CIA critique
Nancy Pelosi is softening a bit after the Leon Panetta smackdown.

In a statement just released by her office, Pelosi is blaming the Bush administration's interrogation policies and says she did not mean to question the integrity of the hard working spies in the intelligence community.

Here's Pelosi's statement:

"We all share great respect for the dedicated men and women of the intelligence community who are deeply committed to the safety and security of the American people. My criticism of the manner in which the Bush Administration did not appropriately inform Congress is separate from my respect for those in the intelligence community who work to keep our country safe. What is important now is to be united in our commitment to ensuring the security of our country; that, and how Congress exercises its oversight responsibilities, will continue to be my focus as we move forward."

That slurping sound is Nancy on her knees

Rove planned it all out years ago as a parting gift to the dems.
