This happens quite a bit, all the primitives jamming into General Discussion while ignoring the topic-specific forums. I'm very happy we have better organization here, but then and again, we're not primitives.
I know, I know; as far as the primitives are concerned, General Discussion is "the" place to be, "the" place to be seen, and as we all know, the primitives love to display themselves in the most conspicuous places, as if General Discussion is the only stage on Skins's island.
As we all know, Pedro Picasso himself avoids the smaller 9-11 forum on Skins's island, even though that's where he belongs.

or you are just ****ing bullshitting. I have a friendly relationship with my local chevy guys. I can not get a test drive set up and bought a vette from them a few years ago.
I assume you have some knowledge about this post. I have driven many high end german cars and have had mixed experience with most of them.

10. Sat in one. I didn't have to drive it to experience all of the Chevy Cavalier plastic.
I have a couple of friends at work who were interested in one, but couldn't find a dealer that would let them test drive one.
...and I agree that some German cars are no better.

A few dealers in select metro areas got "demos" from Chevy and they aren't (supposed) to be for sale. They are to at least show the public that the cars are real. AND they were LS/RS V6 versions with 20" wheels. Four colors, red, orange, silver and black. Not enough to make a dent. And don't forget they were at a bunch of auto shows. But the auto show cars were not final production cars. But I have not only sat in one I have DRIVEN it and IT ****ING ROCKS. Shifting the 6-spd auto using the paddles is a breeze, and where ever you drive, people stop and point or gather around to ask questions.
And from 60-100 it was a rocket ship. Faster that my Turbo Buick ever was. But not faster than the supercharged S10.

They had several Camaros there and were trying to get me to trade in my current Chevy and buy one. If only I had a stable job....

Chevy refused to fill dealer stock orders for the year. I know that for a fact. I know even Rick Hendrick couldn't get stock orders because you had to have a legit sales order with a verified SS number, phone and address for every customer order. They don't want dealers gouging the prices.

I've got one parked out front that I'm trying to unload, just like the 3 piece of shit BMWs I had before it and the god damned Audi my wife drives now, the plastic parts are utter junk, they break for no apparent reason and are ungodly expensive to replace. Move up as bit and things get better.
I have an Audi S8 and it's built like a tank. 155mph, rock solid...like driving your living room around.

24. I drove one of the first s8's on the east coast
not a bad car. But it does pretty much define how you see stuff. I saw the 90k s8 as a excellent execution of my grandmothers town car. Big, fat, no engine noise and no soul. A great car but not an enthusiast car. r8 boils blood, driven one around a race course (parade lap), but it depends on what utility you get from a car.
Wife has a newer Mercedes, same thing. Brick shithouse solid, fast, but isolating feel. I have gone through M3 (98), 911 (02) and vette (07) all are similar renditions of a fun car. Camaro and mustang are really fun and affordable cars.
I hope chevy sells a bunch of them. Looking forward to a test drive of the SS model. High school GF had one, loved that car more than her..

27. I also own an '83 911, so I know what you mean.
The S8 is too refined to be an enthusiast car, but it's luxurious, it's rock solid at 150 on the highway, it handles exceptionally well for a car its size, and it'll eat any 4-door American sedan for breakfast.
That said, you don't get the seat-of-your-pants feeling that a good sports car gives you.

23. I had a Bimmer for a couple of years. A nightmare.
Cheap ass plastic, and everything -- EVERYTHING -- cost $400 or more to fix. Replace a windshield wiper or change a headlamp...repair prices seemed to start around $400. I'm glad to be rid of it.

17. I felt exactly the same about the Mustang...
I set in it, it felt confining and the interior was not impressive at all. Plastic and cheap it seemed to me.

18. The Camaro is not plastic and cheap, but then again , ALL Toyota's are plastic as are Honda's and Nissan's UNLESS you order leather and wood for LOTS more. Leather is available in a Camaro as is the upgraded interior in the RS/SS. If you sit in a base car, do you expect it to be luxurious? Actually, if you own a Japanese car, it doesn't matter if the Camaro or Mustang were gold plated.

...though it's true that I haven't bought an American car in 20 years...because I've driven many of my friends' American cars and (with rare exception) I haven't found one that has the competence of many foreign cars. That's an opinion based on my own set of preferences, but a lot of people must feel the same or American cars wouldn't have lost so much market share.
...and if you're going to deny that the Camaro's interior is horrendously cheap-feeling, you're either dishonest or insane. Great body, OK engine, interior by Mattel.

Sorry, neither Toyota or Honda offer anything but mundane pedestrian people movers. Atr least Nissan got their shit together and offers some exciting cars. As does Mitsubishi and Mazda, UAW made.

29. My ex-wife's car was a classic Camaro, bright red with black t tops, circa the late 70s, or possibly 1980. It was like a rock, in the best sense. Because I am not a car person, I thought it was probably in the same family with the Trans Am (and Mustang for that matter).
The only problem is that her T tops were constantly being stolen, and eventually someone smashed the windows to get inside, even though there was nothing to steal (other than replacement T tops). It was sad. I remember how she cried and cried and cried.
It was an amazing car.
Eventually, she sold it, and I gave her a Ford Granada that I was passing off because my parents handed down to me a Toyota Camry, but it was very painful to let go of that Camaro.
Ooops, after finishing this, I suddenly realized I should've put this primitive bonfire in the automotive forum here. In case lurking primitives aren't aware, there's always plenty of primitive bonfires in other forums here, not just here, in the DUmpster.
