Police: Drunk Neb. man went home to wrong house
« on: May 12, 2009, 02:49:10 AM »
LINCOLN, Neb. – Police said an intoxicated 21-year-old broke into a house, apparently thinking he was at his own home. Police arrested the man in the basement of the house Saturday morning. He told them he was in his home.

The man actually lives a few streets over. He had forced his way into the house, and was arrested on suspicion of trespassing and vandalism.

Well now, that's in Lincoln.

Things like this happen all the time out here in the Sandhills of Nebraska, but no damage done, because the person can just walk inside without having to break anything.

And then sooner or later, someone realizes there's a mistake.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of scenario that has a lot of anti-gun idjits wringing their hands concerning the castle doctrine.

Some bastard breaks into my home, he's a dead man. Period.

I call him a Darwin Award winner, but the DUmmies would call him a victim.

Famous Russian movie called "With High Spirits" about a guy going to a new years celebration with his friends at a local sauna.    One of whom has to go to Leningrad the next day, so after the party, he has to go the airport.   Well, two of them get so drunk they fall asleep in the terminal, and the ones who are still awake don't know which one was going on the plane.  So they pick the wrong one.

When he gets to Leningrad, he goes to a taxi, asks the taxi driver to take him to his address.  Russians are very uncreative about street names.  He gets out in front of an apartment building exactly like the one he lives in in Moscow, goes up the stairs to his apartment number, and puts his key in the lock and opens the door, and then falls asleep on the couch.

A little while later, the girl who lives in the apartment comes home..... Hilarity ensues.

I once woke up (came to) with my head resting on a step to a porch once attached to a house which no longer existed.

Alcohol is not the gateway to reasonable social behavior.  Being drunk can be confusing and lead to embarrassing future stories about your past.

Glad I have never been so drunk that I had to live with something like this story in the OP. It's bad enough when your sober and have to live with it and booze only adds to the embarrasment.
