As I predicted, we'll see.

The season's young yet, and anything can happen.

Quote
Guillen drives in 4 runs, Royals rally past Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Jose Guillen homered and drove in four runs, rallying the Kansas City Royals past Minnesota 7-5 on Sunday after Twins starter Scott Baker carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning.

Guillen's three-run shot accounted for the first runs off Baker (0-4), who flirted with Minnesota's first no-hitter since 1999. But he gave up five consecutive hits in the seventh and failed to record an out as the Royals overcame their largest deficit this season to take two of three in the series.

Kansas City starter Gil Meche (2-2) lasted six innings and a season-high 116 pitches after leaving his previous start at Toronto with lower back stiffness.

Delmon Young's RBI single in the sixth gave Minnesota a 4-0 lead. Baker appeared to be on his game, too, but he lost it in the seventh.

Until that point, his lone blemish was a second-inning walk to Guillen. Baker then retired 15 straight before Willie Bloomquist's leadoff single in the seventh ended the no-hit bid. Mark Teahen followed with a single and Guillen hit his third homer on an 0-2 pitch to pull the Royals to 4-3.

Mike Jacobs and David DeJesus singled to chase Baker, who struck out four and left to a standing ovation. Still, he wound up with a loss.....

I'm actually surprised at Meche's record.  I would have thought that, at the beginning of the season, that Meche would be 5-0 now and Zack Greinke would be 2-2.  Whoops! :o

In retrospect, the Meche signing was one of the better ones of 2006-2007 off-season.  The Royals can make some noise in what is quickly becoming a very drab division.

Greinke's 6-0 now.

It would be great to see another I-70 World Series. The Cardinals are also very good this season.

I disremember what year it was, the Kansas City Royals-St. Louis Cardinals World Series, but I got a boxful of stuff from it, in storage.  I had a brother and have a nephew who considered, and consider, that the highlight of their baseball fandom.

I regret I never learned what my brother thought of America's team, though.

Seeing that we were on opposite sides of the political spectrum, I suspect he wouldn't like America's team, although now in another time and place, I rather suspect he likes America's team.

Greinke's 6-0 now.

Finally fulfilling the hype.  Good on him.  Obviously he won't finish the season with a sub-1.00 E.RA, but he's looking awfully good.

The way he's been going, if someone asked me to bet on it either way, I'd refuse.  On one hand, no one has ever finished with a sub-1.00 ERA, but on the other, Greinke is as good as anyone--including who I consider to be the best pitcher in the game today, Johan Santana (hey, he's a Met, and I'm a Mets' fan, and he's on my fantasy team)--or has a better chance than anyone, to do it.  (He's also 24 years old.  His best days are still ahead of him.)

In our league, whose team is he on, Ralph?

Don't recall.  I get burned by young pitchers quite often, so I've been staying away somewhat in recent years.
