Looking for first hand experience with Bosch dishwashers

Our five year old Kitchenaid sounds like a 1986 VW Rabbit diesel when it runs. Then it gets even noisier. We have decided we need to get a new dishwasher, and as much as we have had Kitchenaids forever, the one there now will be our last. It is total crap.

We went today to the neighborhood appliance store where we have bought every appliance in our house. The Kitchenaid issue is not their fault. It was a lemon, and our dealer tells us he has not heard of another with the problems ours has had. The store is local, family owned, and has been there for about 40 years. They're honest and we have no reason to distrust them, our own lemon notwithstanding.

He said his two most popular machines are the Bosh and the Kitchenaid.

We have prices on four flavors of Bosch. His prices compare very favorably with anything I can find on the net.

So the question now is personal experience. If you have a Bosch, or know very well someone who does, how do you like it? How old is it? is it silent? Does it do a good job.

Our dealer says the only "complaint" (said in quotes, cuz they're more observations than complaints) he hears about the ones he's sold is that they do not dry the dishes quite as well as the Kitchenaid, or the GE Monogram, or other similar machines.

1. I love mine Stinky as does my stepmom and my commute buddy loves theirs

all but silent except when draining the water, gets the stuff clean with nothing but a plate scrape into the trash

don't bother with all the bells and whistles, just get the stainless tub and since it's just you two, maybe the 'rinse and hold' option

I've had mine since November, my commute buddy has had theirs for over 4 years as has my stepmom

I'm sold!

3. my bosch is 10 years old and has some persistent issues. i guess like they all do. the spray holes clog regularly, as do the holes down in the sump. i guess i could wash my dishes before i put them in the dishwasher, but....

all in all, tho, i would buy another.

I think the sparkling husband primitive should donate the money he's planning on using for purchasing a new appliance, to the poor, and then continue donning the apron and washing-and-wiping the dishes.

The sparkling husband primitive would do that, if he practiced what he preaches from the commode in the basement.

The only experience I have had with Bosch is with their diesel fuel injection pumps and injectors.

I have no experience with their appliances, just tools and automotive electrical components, all of which are top quality....with a bit of a price premium, though.

I guess Stinky needs to figure out which dishwasher will fit down the basement steps.
