Anyone have the flu?
« on: May 02, 2009, 05:31:40 PM »
I do. :bawl:

Started out as a sore throat about a week ago. Last three days have been hell on earth. Can't get off of the couch. I have a head ache, fever, hot/cold, sore hands and shoulders and can't breath and nothing helps.

To top it off, the kidney stone that put me in the emergency room in Greeneville, Tn. on Good Friday has dislodged. It has decided to talk a stroll. I was at the hospital again Thursday. I have to P in the basement because that's where the screen is set up to catch the stone, when it passes. I had a CAT scan at the Tn. ER  I'm scheduled for an ultrasound on Monday.

Just shoot me.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

**Sorry to hear you are having such a bad time.  I've never had a stone, but my wife has about two each year.  I know it's hell on earth.  Take care and Lord love ya.

I read an article a couple weeks ago...they've done a study and determined that drinking diet soda may reduce the chances of kidney stones.  Mr Smith found out he was diabetic about 6 years ago.  He'd had stones about every 18 to 24 months before that time, actually found out about the diabetes because of his elevated blood sugar while in the ER for a stone.  He switched to diet pop, and has only had one in the 6 years.

Drinking diet soda may reduce the risk of forming kidney stones

...

Increased alkalinity is proven to augment citraturia, a known factor for calcium stones. Malate increases the amount of alkali delivered. Researchers measured the citrate and malate content of 15 popular diet sodas. The researchers found that Diet Sunkist Orange contained the greatest amount of total alkali and Diet 7-Up had the greatest amount of citrate as alkali.

Perhaps you won't need to suffer quite so much in the future.

Thanks for the info. I gotta have tests done to see if diabetes come into play. I use to drink real heavy (Been sober for 16 years). I know the pancrease gets messed up.

Kidney stones SUCK. You're talking to someone who was cursed with them for many several years. I'd had one blasted in 1999 and life was OK. In 2004 I had them again, 3 actually the largest was 13MM  :o and a 10 and an 11. 2 blastings, 6 weeks apart with a stent in for 8 weeks. Your worst horror story is how they put it in and take it out.  :uhsure:

I was told/ordered no coffee, no tea and no soft drinks. Water Water Water. I hate water.

On to the flu. My fever broke the day before they started reporting on the swine flu. It slapped me down so hard it pissed off my COPD and that's giving me fits now. Thank God for pneumonia vaccines or I'd most likely be in the hospital or dead right now.

I don't know if I had the flu but I noticed myself watching Charlotte's Web a lot this week...

I would make a good DUmmy.

On top of the flu and Kidney stone, I sprained my calf muscle today. I can't hardly walk.

Only a DUmmy could have this much go wrong so fast. We would call them liars too!! :o

I don't get the flu.

I've never had a kidney stone, but I did have Peritonitis one time
and I prayed to God to take me home cause it hurt so bad.  :(

But I got better.

Had a buddy of mine out in the Salt Lake area that told me that his church meetings (including the worship service) were cancelled today because 3 members of the congregation are down with the Swine Flu.

That is not true in my case. I've been drinking diet sodas for MANY years (well over two decades). Over the last three or four years, I'd pass a stone about once a month or sometimes more often. It wasn't until after I met Inga and she did some natural remedy that eliminated my kidney stones. I haven't passed a stone in almost a year since her remedy.

Nope, I checked... no flu here.  Some excess body fat and hairy toe knuckles, but no flu.

I'm curious... I used to work with a guy that developed stones in his saliva glands.  He had to have them cut out and his doctor told him to stop drinking soda.  Do you still drink diet sodas?

It seems to have helped Mr Smith a lot...but, like all medical stuff, nothing works for everyone.
