NEW ORLEANS (MSBN) -- Mayor Ray Nagin noted in a speech today that home values were often significantly effected by the presence or absence of a swimming pool.
"It's not fair," said Nagin. "A pool in your backyard can increase property value by as much as $20,000. For someone without that economic advantage the effects can be devastating.
"So announcing today the City of New Orleans Planning Commission will be undertaking plans to ensure every citizens' backyard has at least 6-feet of standing water."
When later queried about future political ambitions the mayor treated reporters to a glimpse of his upcoming run for US congressman. While laying out his platform the mayor was asked about his stance on Roe vs Wade.
"Oh, I don't care how people get home."
