Thursday....is it the new Friday?
« on: April 30, 2009, 06:55:50 AM »
Cloudy today, chance of rain, but not too cold...perfect day for taking a nap with the window open!   Supposed to have a ballgame tonight...we'll see if that happens or not.

and to revive an old favorite tradition, TOTD:  IF you had to give up one type (mexican, italian, chinese, etc) of food forever, which would it be?

My answer, probably things categorized as "french"...the stuff with lots of sauces poured over it, frog legs, escargo, etc.    I love mexican, and asian foods too much, and "american" cusine is just comfort food, so no way!

You know, I thought I would have a hard time with this, but it's amazing what almost 2 years of eating differently has done...I'm with you on the French...followed closely by Asian cuisine believe it or not. As much as I love it, I could live without it.

Now Mexican food with the spice, cheese...I'd still have a hard time pushing that away :-) or the cerveza that goes along with it...yummy! :-)

And Italian...you can pull the pasta from my cold, dead hands

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

TOTD:  Japanese...sushi in particular.  I don't eat bait.

Cloudy and rainy here with the same forecast for the next week or so.

Unfortunately Thursday is not Friday, and I will have to go work tomorrow as well  :p

TOTD:  I'm going to have to go with French too.  That might be because I rarely eat French food though.

I'll go with Oriental.  It's alright, but nothing special to me.  Besides, all the others I eat involve both meat AND cheese!

Yeah, fishheads and rice hold no special appeal to me. OTOH, I have to ask for my refried beans to be served up in a separate bowl. The stuff spreads all over the plate and gets cold long before I can eat it.

Nothing worse than cold refried beans. Smells like dog food.

French cooking doesn't always involve sauces, but there is nothing more heavenly on this planet than a well-made beurre blanc. My hardened arteries can testify to that.

Was at work early this morning - 0615 - for my Safety Committee meeting. Three OSHA recordables this month, including a broken hand.  :p

But I have rehearsal tonight and the chops feel strong -- been practicing euph and bass trombone every day for several weeks now.

Yes, Thursday is the new Friday, at least for me. I love 3 day weekends every week.

And on the Off Topic Topic, I'd be fine without most Oriental food. I love sushi and a few other things, but for the most part, I can do without.

Ugh, I just got asked to come into work today.  I was going to have a nice day off, cleaning the apartment and getting an oil change.  I called in to ask about tomorrow's schedule, when they fricking begged me to come in today to close.  :(  I know, its more hours, which is great, but I have stuff to do when I'm not at work... do they even realize that?  :banghead:   If one of the other closers attempts to leave early because I'm there, I won't allow it.  They were SCHEDULED to work the shift they were given, and should not take advantage when someone is added at the last minute (I'm thinking of one person in particular who has done this multiple times... why he hasn't been fired yet, I have no idea   :whatever: ).

TOTD: None.  :p

Sounds like job security.  You were asked to work because they needed someone with reponsiblity to be there.   :cheersmate:

Back from the (nearly) dead, and greeted with a 12-hour day.  Still at work.

At least I get my off Fridays--oh wait, no I don't.  They took those away from us.  Back to 5-8's instead of the 9/80's.

TOTD: Indian food.  Can't stand curry.

TOTD: whatever that stinky halal Mediterranean food is.  No thank-you.

I hate being on a diet.  It's not really a diet... I still eat the same stuff, but not as much of it.  I don't mind not having beer around but I sure could go for some hot wings right now. :(

Thai food.

Every Thai dish I have tried has invariably turned out to taste like armpits or kitty litter.

Yeah, I guess so.  I think my co-workers were glad I was there, because I was replacing someone no one likes. LOL  I'll have 30+ hour paychecks for this week and the upcoming week... I'm trying to work enough hours so that I can get health insurance.  I have to average 28.9 hours a week for a year to get full coverage through my employer.   I'm well above that average, so missing some time won't hurt me too much.

Unfortunately, I got sent home early tonight (by a half-hour or so)... I did something EXTREMELY stupid earlier today involving energy drinks, and now I'm paying for it with a big ole CRASH! :(  :thatsright:  I was having a hard time remaining standing, and they kept asking me if I wanted to go home, but I was determined to hold out as long as I could.  The new manager in charge told me she was concerned about what was happening, and felt it was best that I go home and go straight to bed.  She just called me a minute ago to remind me to go to bed.( Yes, Mom!  :p )   She didn't criticize me for my error, as she did it herself once, but she let me know she will be making sure I never buy an energy drink from where we work ever again.  :uhsure:

After work, I went for a moonlight swim in the pool. The water was warm and relaxing. It helped my shoulder that was killing me.

I work Friday and then have the weekend off. I have not worked a weekend in a long time, and this is the first time that has happened in about four or five years (or longer) I always used to work at least Saturday, if not both days. Even in the car business, as I could get more work done when we were not open to the public.

Payday is at midnight when the money hits the bank. My check includes another raise. This is my third raise since December. Damn economy!  :rotf:

TOTD: I could live without Italian, as long as that does not include an occasional pizza.

I mostly stick to American & Mexican foods, with an occasional cat on a stick Asian buffet.
