Sweet corn ice cream

Yeah, that's what I thought too.

But, my new favorite store in town is this Grocery Outlet place and I've finally gotten the hang of what it's all about. It seems like they have a lot of stock that just couldn't cut it in the big leagues for whatever reason. For example, lots of odd Haagen Daaz flavors I've never heard of, that sort of thing. Once I learned to be adventurous and not be afraid, I have found that most of the items are actually exceptional, and that people are just afraid to try them--which is why they end up at this store at a deeeeeeeep discount.

So today I brought home a pint of Sweet Corn Ice Cream ($1.49). I didn't know what to expect, except that I love corn in any and every manifestation, so could not imagine this would be objectionable at all.

And it's not! I mean, it's good. It's just so weird.

But I like it.

So have any of you ever seen corn ice cream anywhere?

The best way to eat corn is on the cob, slobbered first with real butter, a whole lot of salt and pepper, and then dollops of cream cheese and sour cream.

Nothing like it in the world of culinary delights.

1. Nope, but I think I'm too conservative about ice cream!

Went to Ben + Jerry's yesterday with my brother, intending to order 'coffee.' Brother says, Oh so PREDICTABLE, cause its Dad's favorite flavor, and I guess I'm a Dad copy-cat!

SO what ELSE do they have of interest, and where is it?

Actually, the ellen primitive buys her ice cream at Wal-Mart; don't let her fool you, thinking she shops at a politically-correct place, where the prices are way out of line.

2. Yes, at a Thai Restaurant I frequently go to

They serve a Coconut Ice Cream that also includes corn, occasionally they only use corn and omit the coconut altogether.

3. My favorite EVER is sweet corn and blackerry ice cream

seasonal from one of our local artisan ice cream artists here in the Columbu Ohio area....I usually buy about 10 pints in August...hoping it will last all winter.

I have ONE left in the freezer...it was in short supply last year.

Jeni's Splendid Ice cream - here is their merchant page at the North Market:
