Is Miss America or Miss Universe or beauty pageants in general even relevant today?

I remember when the Miss America pageant was considered a big thing and got big ratings. I'm old enough to remember when Bert Parks hosted it for years and years, and asked the contestants questions like, "What would you do to help foster world peace?" or "What would you do to make your husband more comfortable when he comes home from a long day at the office?"

Now, we have Miss America contestants being asked real and relevant questions like, "do you support gay marriage?"

Does it really make sense though? Does anybody really pay attention to beauty pageants anymore?

Has anyone noticed that the left must politicized literally everything??

The DHS made sure to take that first step toward outlying dissident thought, the new hate crime law will go farther. They want the power to shut down all opposition media too. Every step toward totalitarianism is being taken. The brown shirts, youth corps, politicizing the census and making sure the media follows their daily talking points precisely.

does anyone think that we would ever have another free election if the left gets their way?

Uh, sir, some places in America haven't had free elections since the Democrats under Aaron Burr created the first big-city political machines.

When was the last time, for example, that Chicago had a free election?

I've said it before, but it bears repeating--when the final chapter of the history of the American republic is written, it will conclude that the Democrat party was the most degraded and corrupt institution ever invented in America, its effects more malicious and cancerous than even that of the mafia.

My hubby uses this equation: 49% of all Americans are idiots, and will vote Democrat everytime. It is the 1% in the middle that is iffy.

Yeah, but anyone who doesn't know what they think (and the squishy middle are like stalks of wheat being blown by the wind) they're susceptible to anyone who uses pretty words and promises of undefined change. I don't hold out much hope for the country if our fate depends on people who take pride in not knowing what they think about an issue.

Yes ma'am! I actually find moderates, or the squishy middle more frustrating at times than the nutty left. The problem is they are too easily swayed as you say. I get furious watching Frank Luntz's Dunces when they are elevated to a high position! I want to reach to the screen and strangle them during the elections. How can anyone not know what they believe? Their core values? While I think the DUmmies are totally nutz, at least they know what they believe. Moderate is a dirty word in my view. They never bring people to their side of any arguement, instead, they allow themselves to be dragged over to the other side, and the vast majority of time it is to the left. ARRRGHHH!

We just had a two term republican president? You don't believe there are "moderate republicans" or "moderate democrats"?

I think Bush was the better choice, "moderate" or not. Algore wasn't even popular with the democrats. John Kerry was only slightly more popular with them. Besides, he's an arrogant phony. You can say a lot of things abut Dubya but he never tried to pretend to be something he wasn't. Granted, he lost his way at the end and allowed himself to be manipulated by the left but "compassionate conservative" lives in the squishy middle and this is a symptom. The last 3 presidential elections we've basically had to choose between the lesser of two evils.
