SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has made it official—he's running to become California's next governor.
The 41-year-old mayor used the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook to announce on Tuesday that he was seeking the Democratic nomination to succeed Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Newsom could face 71-year-old Attorney General Jerry Brown and 64-year-old Lt. Gov. John Garamendi in next year's Democratic primary. Brown was governor from 1975 to 1983.

Other Democrats mentioned as possible contenders include 56-year-old Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and 75-year-old U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein.

No mention of any "R" running for Governor in Kalifornicate.   :whatever:

Garamendi would be the least destructive. I'm hoping a Rep comes out of somewhere that I could vote for, but I'm not holding my breath.

California Land Prices Continue to Plummet.
Governor Newsom denies his policies are the reason a mass exodus of Californian refugees are leaving his state. "Look at the bright side, our carbon foot print is decreasing. Sure there were a lot of upset feelings when I signed over southern California to Mexican sovereignty. And the Re-eduation camps for Christians opposed to Gay marriage did prove unpopular. We were all saddened when Disney and Universal moved their parks out of state, but with $17 a gallon gas, no one is taking vacations anymore anyways...just like nature intended. But I do promise a brighter future under our new Chinese masters."
