I DO have gas upon occasion, but...... it's not from Taco Bell. :o

Taco Bell is about as Tex-Mex as Ooooobama is Jewish.

We don't even have a Taco Bell in the town where I live.  I consider this a good thing.  Then again, the places that try to claim they've got Mexican food suck even worse.  Imagine, if you can, someone trying to pawn off tomato sauce straight from the can as enchilada sauce, or BROWN GRAVY on a chimi.  This is what I would have to endure in a Mexican restaurant here.

Wow, I'm pretty sure that anybody who tried that here would get tarred and feathered.   We have so many, that if one isn't good, it won't last long.

Surprisingly enough, when I was on the frozen tundra in Iowa there were actually a few decent places.  A couple of them had something I hadn't encountered in CA called tenapas--basically a soft (corn, of course) taco made with carne asada, a bit of cheese, then topped with chorizo.  Wrap them in foil, heat them just enough until the cheese melts, then serve with rice and beans.  A bowl of onion and cilantro to top the tacos....mmmmmmmm.

No kiddin.  Swing a dead cat in SoCal and you'll hit 20 of them, all good.  Hell, even Tacos Mexico was better than Taco Bell at 2 am.

We have a really good one about 3 miles from the house.   :-)  It's one of those mom & pop outfits where they barely speak English.  The place is packed every night.
