DUmmies replace the Laffer Curve with the DUmbass Curve
« on: April 20, 2009, 10:00:24 AM »
The Laffer Curve, which has never been proven, posits that high marginal tax rates lower the incentive to generate income, so total tax receipts have a cap shape to them.

DU has a different idea: if you make a large income, you should be JAILED, so tax receipts go to zero:

Why is $250,000 a year not a lot of money?

Wealth and comfort "depends on where you're coming from," said Lois Avitt, a sociologist and founding director of the Institute for Socio-Financial Studies in Charlottesville, Va. To a family earning $50,000, $250,000 is well off, but for the family earning $250,000, rising college and medical costs and dropping home values make the perception debatable.

http://finance.yahoo.com/retirement/article/106934/Weal...

I find this offensive. The implication here is that college is only for those making an upper middle class salary.

If you read between the lines, it sounds as if he is saying that families who earn $50,000 will not earn a college degree.

Are people really this insensitive?

27. Yeah and after spending it all on lavish shit they cry about how they aren't saving much

No shit ****ing assholes! If 250k barely makes ends meet, it's because you live in a ****ing lovely place, send your kids to excellent schools, drive reliable (probably even luxurious) cars, and eat good food. Jail them and take their jobs.

Plenty of good old fashioned envy there, and even more silence from the DUmmies that have a substantial W-2 (there are a few). I love it when they talk tax policy: confiscate all wealth, toss people in jail for no reason, blah blah. Idiots, one and all.

Now I think 250k is quite a good income and I do also think there is some ridiculous bellyaching from the person who says they are hurting at that amount--let's face it, there is a lot of fat that can be trimmed in your budget if times get tough and you make that much money and live in an area with an average cost of living--a lot. That said, why on earth would we jail someone for making thatmuch and then how will you confiscate monies they can no longer earn, you know, in jail dumbass? And on what charge do we jail someone for EARNING their money while we dole out thousands to each individual a year for EITC who actually didn't do what the first part of that acronym states ie EARN that money? How do people get this twisted that albeit whiny, but productive, people are criminals, yet someone who lives in a continual state that requires they live on the forced charity of others is somehow noble.

Just how in the f*ck does that happen?

In my world being a thief means taking something you did not earn or that is not yours. While the person at 250K may not do it in a fashion that some people would deem as 'hard' work, they still have earned it based on the skillset they have and if the employer was willing to pay the agreed amount then they certainly didn't take something that wasn't theirs. When your average layabout collects a check from the gov., what even menial, small-effort-to-accomplish task have they done to EARN that money? At what point have they either earned the money they get? At what point was it 'theirs' to accept? Do they provide babysitting services for someone else who had those taxes removed? Housecleaning? Labor of any kind to grant them the stability social programs provide them? At what point did the layabout earn the right to say the money was theirs to begin with because I sure hear a lot of screaming of it is the 'people's' money while the people who it actually belongs to are demonized and those who put nothing in are lionized for just being. Apparently it is a disgusting luxury for one to indulge on the fruits of their own labors, but when some welfare cases indulges on the dime of others, she or he is deserved of a 'few nice things'. I am so sick of this liberal bullshit when it comes to this...nothing but pure class envy bullshit plain and simple.  I think a lot of people who indulge in this way of thinking, even good hard-working people, do so in homage to their own failed hopes and dreams. *sigh*

I've seen this up close and personal.  My dad was a correction's officer for almost as long as I can remember.  He got some specialized training over and above the standard training that every corrections officer receives and he was an officer that trained new officers for many years.  His superiors seemed to like him, and his fellow guards certainly liked him because they knew he would have their backs no matter what.  I never could figure out why dad was never promoted.  I didn't figure it out until I got into the private business.  My dad complained every time supervisor's got a raise, and was proud of the fact that he never "went golfing" with the higher ups.

I'm very competent at my job and don't mind working long hours.  I'm that much like my dad.  I differ from him in that I can't count the number of times I've gone out with the boss or the PM for a beer after work, or some other activity.  In seeven years working in the private sector, I've come farther than he did in twenty-five years as a corrections officer.

Yep, there are a lot of people like that too. Afraid of being a 'kiss ass'. Probably more helpful to see those as opportunities for someone further up to get to know you  better and it's also a good place to put ideas one has that might not otherwise get heard. It's hard to do that in the wind and grind of the day to day. I relate personally as well as a younger female who didn't take opportunities like that when they presented either.  :hammer: I have no interest in being mad at other men or women who did though. Lesson learned.

What the dummies (and Barack Obeyme) seem to forget:  $250,000.00 in New York City, Connecticut, or California is not a lot of money.  $250,000.00 in the midwest is a lot of money.

But really - what is the difference?  If someone in the midwest is earning that sort of money, it's THEIRS to do with as they please.  What if they are using part of that money to take care of an elderly or sick family member?

It's really no one's business what someone makes and what they spend it on.  But the dummies think they should be jailed and their money redistributed ......... these people are becoming dumber and dumber.

I went over there to see what, if any, reaction there was to the "jail" comment.  It's just so out there, even for them.  A couple people called him on it, wanted to know what the charge would be.  "Making you envious?  You're doing that to yourself."
One person asked JVS if he thought that if he or someone tried to take $$ from someone else, that person would just meekly take it sitting down.  JVS said that taking $250K from someone would level the playing field for about a dozen others, and they would "take care" of the offended party.   :lmao:

Wow.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.
Winston Churchill

Can't say it any better.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Given the current tax rate in the State of New York, $250K after taxes is roughly $100K. Don't get me wrong, $100K after taxes is a sizable amount of money. When you take in the cost of living in New York and the State's penchant for now raising fees and taxes again, is it no wonder that the wealthy will leave NY en mass ?

These douche clowns never think things through.

Will they realize effect of stealing redistributing all the "rich peoples" money be when they've blown the few bucks they got redistributed and begin to look for the next host for their parasitic desires.

So I'm guessing if this envious hatemonger hit the lottery he would give it away and report immediately to the county jail? Does it never occur to these people that someone has to MAKE all the lavish shit those rich assholes buy? Someone had to build the house. Someone had to work in mills, glass shops, manufacturing appliances to put in these lavish houses. Someone had to make the car. How many people would be hurt, jobs destroyed, etc. just so this moron could have revenge on someone who has more than he does?

But let's just say we all decided this was a super cool thing to do. What happens when all the money has been given away and all those it was distributed to run out? They aren't going to give one whit about being practical...why should they, it wasn't theirs in the first place and they did absolutely nothing to acquire it. I'm sure for a while it would seem like "the rich" were their own private piggy banks. I can't believe this is real. Wonder if JVS is a mole or just a prick.
