Saturday
« on: April 11, 2009, 06:53:04 AM »
Morning folks!!  :cheersmate: Thought I'd make my foray as a regular member in the day thread this am.  :cheersmate:

About to head out for the Saturday morning workout which is now 2 hours instead of 1 since my fave step class is offered early before athletic conditioning. I'd do the yoga after too, but I just want to get back to the house and go out and enjoy the beautiful day it looks like we are having! Should be in the low 60's today--sunny, gorgeous...ahhh!

Anybody have easter plans? My oldest is 11 tomorrow so it's pretty much her day as she was an Easter baby at her actual birth :-) she's super excited. Because ot if it though our Easter dinner will be hot wings and fries as the birthday girl requested--sigh.

anyway, that's all...finishing up a cup of joe and then I'm on my way to the gym. see yas! :cheersmate:

Today will be a great day! Lots of things going on in my town this weekend and either today or tomorrow I will head into Las Vegas to pick up my mother's laptop computer. A couple weeks ago, her hands were really bothering her, and she accidently dropped it and cracked the screen. The extended warranty just paid for itself. It was very upsetting for her, as it was one of the most recent large items that my late father had purchased for her. I will just be glad when she gets it back and has one less thing to worry about.

I turned down 8 hours of overtime as I really did not want to work today. In the past three weeks I was faced with the 2nd anniversary of when my father was killed, my parents anniversary (would of been 49 years) and now of course this holiday....working last night was tough enough as I really started to miss my dad. I need to get this stupid month over with.  :-) Next weekend is my mother's 68th birthday & I'm thankful that I moved close enough that we can enjoy that day together.

For Easter I will take my mother to brunch, not sure if I will be taking my g/f along or not.  :evillaugh:  I don't know if I will have the energy to deal with more then one female at a time this weekend, there might be two seperate Easter dinners.  :lmao:

I still have to call and make reservations today.

1st baseball game cancelled...raining.  Been raining most of the night. Looks like it will be raining most of the day.

Had a good day in Baltimore yesterday...didn't do anything particular, just wandered.  Picked the kiddo up and the airport and then we all went out to eat and wandered the mall.

As predicted, weather cooled down significantly.  Was 60 yesterday (warmest day of the year so far) but only getting up to 45 with wind and rain today (38 now).  Thought about going to Home Depot for a couple of fruit trees (pear and/or peach--yes, they grow up here, as do grapes, surprisingly).  Next weekend looks like a better bet, but I'll price some stuff to get an idea of what I want and can afford.

Taking the perro to the kennel since they're closed tomorrow in preparation for biz trip.  Come to think of it, pretty much EVERYONE is closed tomorrow, so any travel stuff I need I have to get today.  Laundry burning in the dryer, and the TV came back from the repair shop yesterday after it blew up three months ago...yay!

And as I've stated before--do NOT play poker with retarded people.  Anyone cares to know, I'll explain in nauseating detail.  One thing poker dealing is teaching me is how to "read" people, but also patience...oh God, lots and lots of patience.

One of my favorite things is waking up to the sound of thunder and rain. The rain has stopped now but there is still heavy cloud cover and some light wind. I think days like this are gorgeous. Sun? I don't need no stinking sun!  :-)

I'll be attending Easter service late this afternoon followed by a Bunco tournament. A friend of mine from church asked if I would fill in for one of the regular players who can't make it. I used to play Bunco at my old church and always enjoyed it so I agreed. There's even a cash prize.  :hyper:

Hope your day is a good one!

That's only because you live in AZ, dear.  Rain this time of year where I'm at means one thing--FLOODING.

Meh.

We just woke up about half an hour ago.

Have to unpack from the trip today and get some stuff from the grocery store for Easter tomorrow.

Just me and the Mancub until the girls get home tomorrow evening from San Antonio.

I'm about to head out to the mad laboratory/garage, and work on a motorcycle.  Than make a nice trip to the Salvation Army to drop off some furniture, books, clothes, and such.  Finish working on the jazzy Easter baskets for my nieces, pick up some legos for my nephew.  If I have time, and it's still reasonably warm, take an evening bicycle ride.  Than head over to some friends for a bit.

3 day weekends, you have to love them  :cheersmate:

Now, Jty, don't be knocking hot wings and fries as an Easter/birthday meal....  :p  Sounds good to me.

Yay for no work today.  I have been running errands for my mom, getting Easter dinner ingredients and doing laundry.  Might make a special trip to Whole Foods for my DIY honey-roasted peanut butter. I also have to do some homework and e-mail it to my professor so I can take the test for it.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

I'm off to Home Depot today so I can prep my car for rust repair and to fabricate a new battery tray.

Took the pup out for a power walk and managed to kick her butt. Then prep for tomorrow's Sunrise service breakfast - made a batch of sausage gravy, peeled 10 lbs. of potatoes and parboiled 'em, balanced the checkbook, continued arranging a solo I'm gonna play with these guys & gals, walked the pup again, managed to have a cup of coffee and a banana somewhere in there, ironed a pair of pants, now I'm gonna warm up for the gig this afternoon.

Mrs. E is going to drop me off for the gig, then afterwards we're going to the new Menard's which has its grand opening today. They're selling a 17' ladder for half of what it should cost.  :hyper:

I'm sitting here just taking it easy, and trying to conserve my voice a bit.  Last night during the Good Friday service at my church, I noticed that my voice was going south under the strain of having had to practice or sing at Mass every day this week, except Tuesday.  Knowing the other tenors in the combined choirs, one of them is probably soothing his voice with beer right about now, and the other might be sooting his voice with some good single-malt Scotch.  Easter Vigil Mass is going to be about two-and-a-half hours long.  A lot more music than an average Mass.

By the time I get home tonight, the Mets' game will be over, too.  :(

Got a haircut this morning, came home and re-redded....then made 2 trips to Home Depot and one to Lowe's for bushes and flowers. Had two kids here today working...I worked their tushies off!! :-) I get to finish planting tomorrow, but the other half said he would help.

Heading out to dinner here in 'bout half an hour....early dinner cause we're getting up at 6:30 to go to the 7:30 Mass. I would rather go to the 9:00 one...which is the "contempory" Mass. However, the other half doesn't like it when I "rock" to the hymns. Can I help it if there's a "rock" band that plays music? Several guitars, drums, and acoustic piano. They did a hymn one time to the tune of Louie, Louie....and I was moving to the music. He was not pleased....I thought it was fun... :-) The 7:30 one is very traditional....and I do like it...even though I tease him.  :-)

I had a busy day.

Went to Best Buy in Las Vegas, then to Olive Garden, then to the Red Rock Casino. I lost $45, my mom won over $200.

Stopped at a ranch near Red Rock Canyon, that was pretty neat.  The weather was great, although we did run into a few sprinkles, that turned out just enough to make the car really dirty. So I washed the car when we got back close to home.

I took a nap, and just go home from a Casino here in my neighborhood. I won $250....

The day ended well!

The margarita on the rocks was tall with plenty of salt on the rim. Today was like being on vacation.
