Obama's White House dream team virtually all Chicago millionaires

When President Barack Obama moved into the White House earlier this year, he took several of his fellow Chicago millionaires with him.

Newly released disclosure reports show virtually all of the top Chicagoans serving in the West Wing have assets valued at a million dollars or more at the end of 2008.

In several cases, the reports provide the first detailed look at the finances of some of the president's top aides and friends from Chicago who have risen with him. They also show the financial haircut many have taken to be in the White House, at least until they return to the private sector.

Some of the wealth can be attributed to the fact that the top aides surrounding Obama – such as the Chicago Trinity of Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett – are from a big city where salaries tend to be higher. Comparable senior staffers with the previous two presidents came from Austin, Texas, and Little Rock, Ark., where salaries for top professionals tend to be the lower than in Chicago.

(I'm glad to see that President Obama's staff is in line with his predecessors staff. One less thing that the MSM can spin)

Oh, the outrage!!  This is something that, when Bush did it, they went bonkers, and surely they'll be consistent in ther outrage at B. Hussein doing the same thing.

OK, maybe not.

1. Good. They'll be less inclined to want to steal from the taxpayers.

God bless the child that's got his own, and all that.

3. Politicians and top aides who are rich? What a surprise.

Would we want them running the Government if they weren't successful in their own careers?

6. I am absolutely stunned.

I would have assumed he would have picked poor, homeless people he had never met from all around the country.

You mean he actually assembled a team of successful people from his home city? BIZARRE!

10. Was this article supposed to start the next outrage?

"Thou shalt not be outraged at BHO and what he does.  Instead, rationalize it away because he's different."

13. OMG--Obama's cabinet is full of SUCCESS STORIES?!

How DARE he pick such people!

By the way, if you think liberals disliked Bush's cabinet merely cuz it was full of wealthy people, you're missing the point entirely--and are furthermore succumbing to the faux-populist anger that's all the rage these days. Way to go--Glenn Beck would be PROUD.

Top lie of the day.

14. Plus, it looks like they got rich on their own merits, via education and such....

and didn't simply just gained wealth by being who there were....or because of who they know.

Jarrett was born in Shiraz, Iran, where her father, pathologist and geneticist Dr. James E. Bowman, ran a hospital for children as part of a program where American doctors and agricultural experts sought to help jump-start developing countries' health and farming efforts. When she was 5, the family moved to London for one year, returning to Chicago in 1963.

Chicago politics
Jarrett got her start in Chicago politics in 1987 working for Mayor Harold Washington[6] as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Finance and Development.[7]
Jarrett continued to work in the mayor's office in the 1990s. She was Deputy Chief of Staff for Mayor Richard Daley, during which time (1991) she hired Michelle Robinson, then engaged to Barack Obama, away from a private law firm. Jarrett served as Commissioner of the Department of Planning and Development from 1992 through 1995, and was Chair of the Chicago Transit Board from 1995 to 2005.[7]
*snip*
Until joining the Obama Administration, Jarrett was the CEO of The Habitat Company, a real estate development and management company which she joined in 1995. She has been replaced by Mark Segal, a lawyer who joined the company in 2002, as CEO. Daniel E. Levin is the Chairman of Habitat, which was formed in 1971.[8] Jarrett was a member of the board of Chicago Stock Exchange (2000–2007, as Chairman, 2004–2007).
She is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago Medical Center,[7] Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Chicago and a Trustee of Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry.[9][9] Jarrett serves on the board of directors of USG Corporation, a Chicago based building materials corporation.
Jarrett's previous year's income, in a 2009 report, was a $300,000 salary and $550,000 in deferred compensation from The Habitat Executive Services, Inc. The Wall Street Journal also reported she disclosed payments of more than $346,000 for service on boards of directors that reflect her political ties, and work in Chicago real estate and community development

Yep, that sure sounds like a self made blue collar working person.
