Obama to Push Immigration Reform Bill Despite Risks
« on: April 09, 2009, 06:29:13 AM »

While acknowledging that the recession makes the political battle more difficult, President Obama plans to begin addressing the country’s immigration system this year, including looking for a path for illegal immigrants to become legal, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.

Mr. Obama will frame the new effort — likely to rouse passions on all sides of the highly divisive issue — as “policy reform that controls immigration and makes it an orderly system,” said the official, Cecilia Muñoz, deputy assistant to the president and director of intergovernmental affairs in the White House.

Mr. Obama plans to speak publicly about the issue in May, administration officials said, and over the summer he will convene working groups, including lawmakers from both parties and a range of immigration groups, to begin discussing possible legislation for as early as this fall.

Yes we did but politicians being what they are, are constantly muddying the waters.

....and it's a good way for democrats to increase the "brown" vote of the "gimme" class, thus increasing their voter base.

Someone needs to remind these assclowns (both D and R) inside the beltway that amnesty, 1--doesn't work, 2--won't stop illegal immigration, 3--creates more problems than its worth, 4--is something the vast majority of Americans and LEGAL immigrants don't want.

I will say that it's not economically or politically feasable to just "round 'em all up", but we can certainly remove the incentive for them to come/stay here illegally.  Are you listening, states?  This is your fight too.

You forgot:

5--are inclined to vote democrat so who needs to listen to the American people when you have a brand new voting bloc of 20 million (remember that's 33% to 40% of how many votes Obama recieved) waiting in the wings

The gain in votes for the next 3 generations would outweigh whatever political fallout the dems might suffer from genuine Americans. It's enough to secure their power for decades to come and that is more than enough time to cement whatever they want to accomplish.

And that is all the answer you need.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

Without positive control of the borders, it is all meaningless, we already have de facto open immigration and amnesty.

How about the Obama administration work on fixing the legal immigration system instead.  As of yesterday, there were still plenty of new H-1B visas available for FY 2010, but green card applications for any legal immigrants in the third employment catagory (ie, most of them) are not expected to be accepted from May until October.  How dare Obama talk about giving illegal immigrants green cards, when the people who have been working on legally immigrating for years are still stuck in line.

Do we really need to legitimize the illegals? The legal Hispanic immigrants already make up over 50% of new legals.

I'm waiting for the Obama administration to call for a bill that would make Spanish the official language of the U.S.

Hell, since they're pouring over the border like cockroaches out of a decrepit bag of dogfood (don't laugh, I've seen it), we might as well just go the full monty on this.

I've got a guest room in my house. I supposed I can put a family in there, grant them kitchen privileges, and pay for the food myself (of course).

It's the least I can do for our soon-to-be brown brethren.

Someone might want to remind them that one reason Rome eventually crumbled was because of all the immigrants they permitted to enjoin themselves to the empire who, in turn, worked from the inside to bring Rome to its knees.

Scary but true...the true american vote is being hijacked...for the sole purpose of maintaining political power of the far left loons.  Is America, as we know it, gone?
