April 6 (Bloomberg) -- The University of North Carolina claimed its fifth men’s college basketball championship with an 89-72 win over Michigan State.

North Carolina opened a 55-34 halftime lead at Ford Field in Detroit and never let Michigan State get closer than 13 points in the second half. The Tar Heels’ 21-point halftime advantage was the largest in the 71-year history of the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament title game.

I picked U Conn to win it all. Michigan State surprised me, and then UNC surprised me more. It was such a blowout, that I felt sorry for Michigan State. The Spartans never knew what hit 'em.

Good news though: Obama was right. He picked UNC to win it all.
