Sunny (but windy) Saturday
« on: April 04, 2009, 07:57:23 AM »
At least the sun is out!

I had a dream/nightmare last night that my mother in law should up at my house this morning.  Now, I love my mother in law...she's great...but she is such a neat/organized person, and my house is SO not right now.  I have little food in the house, the kitchen is destroyed (we never cleaned up after dinner last night), I have alundry exploded, and paperwork has taken over my dining room table!

Must go to the store today...doggies are out of food.

Baseball practice this afternoon, unless they cancel due to wind.

We're supposed to have 12 inches of snow, accompanied with 50 mph winds, in the Sandhills of Nebraska today.

It doesn't look like it's going to do a damned thing, though.

It's overcast outside and supposed to be windy, but not like it was on Thursday (that was some crazy wind).

I'm working at the real estate office this weekend.  My goals for my time here include:  Getting a decent outline for a Power Point for my presentation due Thursday plus figure out how this game show idea will work, finish reading Simply Success and get at least half way completed on my accounting homework due Tuesday.

The game show thingy is the hardest, once I get that figured out I can easily do the Power Point.  So, for my psychology class we have to do a "fun and interesting" presentation comparing Jack Miller (founder and former CEO of Quills and author of Simply Success) to another entrepreneur (we've chosen Mark Cuban).  Basically she wants some kind of skit and we don't need to discuss Miller so much, as everyone's supposed to have read the book.  Anywho, so I came up with doing some type of game show.  There are two men plus me in the group, so one guy can be Miller and the other Cuban.  And I thought that we could have a poster board with little numbered envelopes on it to hold the questions (and only like 10 questions).  And that's where the idea stopped.

So if anyone has any suggestions let me know.  One guy in my group is on the baseball team and it away this weekend at a game and the other guy doesn't respond to emails, so a lot of this is up to me.

Just finished cleaning up the house and doing laundry.  Does anyone want a black long-haired cat that sheds like crazy?

Rained like crazy on the way home last night, and all my planters with all my seeding veggies are now full of water, so the task today is to drain said planters without losing the sprouted plants.  This ought to be fun.

In other news, spotty rain, wind kicking up to 40 mph gusts tonight.  Gonna have to take the plants inside.  At least tomorrow is supposed to be sunny.

I already have two short haired cats.  I think Mia sees my black pants and poofs hair onto them.

Had you gone through my house this morning, you would have thought I had a tan carpet with black spots.

I was hoping I would sleep in this morning so I set my alarm for 8 a.m. but I still woke up at 6:30.

On the agenda for today: boxing lesson (!), church, and chores.

One the girls in my church group is a Phoenix police officer. To stay in shape, she takes boxing and street fighting lessons. Her boxing instructor offered to give a bunch of us girls from church a free one-hour boxing lesson. I think he's hoping to drum up a little business.

I'm actually looking forward to taking my aggression out on a punching bag. This may turn out to be very therapeutic morning.  :-)

Ah, electric cats.  Yeah, I brush mine and I end up with ANOTHER cat that sticks to EVERYTHING except the trash can.  I'll have to take a pic sometime when I brush them both.  I ended up with a waste can FULL of nothing but cat hair.  Even I was impressed.

On another note, I'm starting to get a little concerned.  How long do strawberries and tomatoes take to germinate?

I'm very happy that is looks sunny out today, because my friends and I are going to beach.   :-)  Probably too cool to actually go in the water, but it will still be fun.

It's a mild 60° outside, supposed to go up to 68° later.  I'm going to see about removing the dashboard from my car to fix a few things (half my window defogger doesn't work).  Other than that, I got no plans.

Okay, got the Skyy Vodka and the Cherry Dr. Pepper, as well as some baby back ribs from Fresh Market.  I'm all set for tonight's shenanigans. :evillaugh:

Work was better today.  Got a $5 tip, so I'll put that in my laundry money jar. LOL

Weather is a little too warm for my taste.  And the pollen is starting to creep back, as I have an itchy nose. :(

Back from the boxing lesson. I have to say...I think I'm hooked. I'm sore and tired but I feel really strong and powerful too.

The instructor charges $40 a session. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it or not. I ain't exactly rolling in the dough these days.  :whatever: But I do love it.

I want to go to ACC's house tonight for dinner. Sounds like you have a good plan.  :-)

Boxing sounds like fun.  :)

Not really rolling in the dough either, but I try to treat myself now and then, like tonight.  :-)

I had a great day. I'm in sunny Tennessee. I had a USPSA/IPSC match today. I won my revolver division. All set for the major match in Georgia in two weeks. I'll be shooting against Jerry Miculek.

This guy.

Boxing sounds fun.  I don't think I'm taking classes this summer, so when this term is over I really want to get into yoga classes.  But then again a punching bag with my boss' face on it sounds good.   :evillaugh:

Today was a great day to be outside. Spent my afternoon outdoors taking pictures. Now I get to spend my evening on my ass watching TV and working on homework.

Had to leave briefly, for an emergency raid on Target... I thought I had brought my highball glasses back from Atlanta... apparently I did not.   :thatsright:  Also purchased a bag of Robin Eggs. :yum:

The game came to a close about the time the field lights came on by timer.  The usual crowd started gathering their benchside necessities, as if spending an hour on a bleacher has to feel like home.  The doglover wrapped little Lady Hairball in her coat as if it was raining.  The concession stand flap came down.  It usually stays up.  The last minute sales of out-of-code-date M&M's and over-carbinated Mountain Dew can be quite the profit margin.  Some are in a hurry to leave.  The melody of multiple combustion engines starting one on top of the other like an unrehearsed barber shop quartet is unmistakable.  And who has time to talk?  The Queen of extracurricular activities, of course.  She has to make her way in the path of every unenthusiastic slacker.  Talking.  Cajoling.  Extracting promises which will never be kept.  It smells like team spirit, but it comes in a bottle.  The one waiting at home to be opened.  The rush for a rush.  Damn drunks.

I didn't recommend cherry Dr Pepper, I recommended regular Dr Pepper.  But I think vodka and cherry coke would go together, but I've never tried it.

Well, I did say I was going to experiment with the Cherry version, regardless... At least now I can say to everyone else...don't do it!
