Didn't we agree up thread that we were doing it for each series instead of each game?

yeah, we did.  I just wanted payback for having to put the dbacks in as my AV, even if just for a short time. :-)

and as a matter of fact, I would be perfectly happy if you just put the logo in your sig.

bet modification;   you cool with it?

we just have to fly the series winners logo in our sigs, until the next series . . .

D-backs are already developing an unsavory pattern. Win the first game of the series and then lose the remaining games. That will make for a great season-ending record.  ::)

we're all looking up at the padres, who I never thought would be as bad as the experts thought . . .

Sounds good to me! I'll move it to my sig in a sec.

Even after reading the explanation about it, I'm still not sure I understand it completely.

Leave it to the D-backs to resurrect an bizarre rule like that.  :lmao:

our guy lined out.  he threw to your second baseman (thus violating the baseball rule of always taking out the lead runner), and then he amplified the error by tagging the runner that was on second (which made the runner on third an appeal play, by definition).  if he had stepped on the bag, it would have all been over.  our guy on third was running on contact.  then they ran off the field.

after they left the field of play, there was no possibility of appealing the tag-up at third.

Byrnes(!) actually saved the day with a line drive into left field in the 10th that brought home the winning run. Before that hit, he was 1 for 17 so far this season so it's about dang time he showed up to party.

Upton got his first hit of the season too.

I'm hoping we will win today's 12:40 game so that we can.....wait for it....actually WIN A SERIES!  :o  :-)

I wonder what that feels like.  :lmao:

KTAR's Doug and Wolf were pissed this morning that Byrnes stiffed the media after the game. He's taken quite a verbal beating (a lot of it deserved though) from our local guys so I can kind of understand why he did.

I saw an interview that the New York Post did with Jim Kaat, last Friday.  Kaat specifically said that he waits until the first 40 games are over before drawing any conclusions about any team's chances.  Which pleased me to no end . . . because the Mets aren't really hitting with RISP right now.

Ha! That's a good idea.

I also remind myself of the D-backs performance last season. They came out on fire last season, especially in April and May before they had their collossal meltdown after the All-Star break.

So maybe it's a good thing that they work out all of the kinks at the beginning of the season instead of the end.

Exactly.  My brother and I had an email pissing contest this morning anout the Skankees and Mets.  He went after me about a misspelled word, so I called him "Mr. ****ing Einstein," and for some reason, he didn't email me back . . .

*sigh*

Setback for Webb, D-backs

Quote
Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb had his bullpen session canceled today due to arm stiffness and is likely to miss more time.

There was hope Webb would be able to return early next week.

He has made only one start this season, going four innings and giving up six earned runs.

He's on my fantasy team in our little league on Yahoo! Sports.  He's also on my DL.  Kyle Davies has been acquired to fill in his slot--Davies has provided one win.

Yeah.  Johan was absolutely dominant against the Nats last night--K-Rod made things interesting, in the fashion of John Franco, Braden Looper, and Billy Wagner.

But the Mets were 2-for-18 with RISP.  Absolutely ****ing abomidable.

I am very disappointed your didn't post this picture from the WaPo's sports blog:

HEADSET, FROSTED TIPS, 10 EXTRA POUNDS

Evidently it's become harder for Roger Clemens to get in a solid workout with all of the legal stress surrounding his steroid allegations. How else can you explain the 10-15 pounds it looks like he's put on in the face since last year alone. Between the bleached, spiked hair and protruding tongue, Clemens looks almost like a crossbreed of a hedgehog and a chipmunk, doesn't he? (David J. Philip/AP)

Is there a story behind the spelling here, cause I am too unmotivated to find it -- once I saw the Clemens picture I can't stop laughing long enough to continue.

Yes, there is.  I covered that here:
