House Approves Democratic Budget Plan
The Senate is working on its own budget for the fiscal year that begins Oct. 1 and any differences will have to be worked out.
By Mosheh Oinounou

Thursday, April 02, 2009

The House today approved the $3.45 trillion budget outline that will serve as the blueprint for Congress to determine spending priorities for the coming year.

The bill passed mostly along party lines with a 233 to 196 vote. House Republicans voted unanimously against the plan but were joined by 20 moderate democrats.

The House proposal calls for about $100 billion less in spending than the initial White House proposal but includes all of President Obama's major budget initiatives on energy, education and healthcare.

"This is sort of an emancipation day, this is a special day for us. It is a day that we waited for, worked for, hope for and now we will be able to pass a budget that is truly a statement of national values," said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Republicans argued that the budget "spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much," to pay for unecessary domestic programs and called for increased tax cuts to help Americans deal with the bad economy.

"The budget before the House makes the economy worse and will destroy more American jobs," said House Minority Leader Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio. "If you just look at the spending in this budget, it's staggering. American families are making sacrifices. They're tightening their belt. But Washington clearly is not."

Here's hoping the Senate uses common sense and a few "moderate" democrats vote NO.

What the hell is she talking about?  Emancipation?  From what?  Common sense?

So by enslaving us to the teat of the state, we're being "emancipated"?

From what?  Our free-will?  Our capacity for rational thought?  Our ability for self-determination?

I guess she just wants us to fall on our knees and thank her from "freeing" us from those pesky little things.  Sorry, Stretch--ain't happening here.

I'm hoping there is a "tea-party" in my area...Hannity is televising one live from Atlanta on April 15th.

We need to demonstrate more dissent over this over-taxation.

I'm excited about it, there's going to be one in Madison.

C'mon, people--did ANYONE with an IQ above 55 and an income above 20K a year think they weren't gonna get ****ed over?

If you did, might I suggest banging yourself in the head with a hammer until your brain damage is severe enough to preclude you from voting again?

This is beyond appalling.  Knowing 80% of our fellow countrymen know diddly squat about what this means is almost as sickening.

Achieving the average American mindset of "Yeah! Stick it to The Man!" is one of the democrats greatest accomplishments.  They are proud of themselves.

What we are free from today are the responsibilities of liberty and manifest destiny.  The mindless masses, complacent in their cradles, secure in themselves with their mirage of freedom, which cannot exist in this reality, think untold social riches are about to rain down upon them like manna from Heaven.  People are drunk on mass delusion.

I cannot wait for the hangover to begin.

There won't be a hangover until about 10 minutes after this country goes bankrupt and the economy implodes.

THEN watch the DUmmies panic.

NO republicans voted for this...that is somewhat reassuring.  This doesn't make Obama look good...his promise to work together with both parties was a sham, obviously we knew that..but the masses didn't...I hope they pay attention.
