Pink Taco, the Scottsdale restaurant that drew fire for its suggestive name, closed Wednesday after a nearly three-year run.
“We are grateful to our many loyal patrons in Scottsdale,†said Arich Berghammer, Pink Taco president.
Despite a celebrity-studded opening, the Mexican eatery never seemed to catch on with the Scottsdale party crowd, changing its menu several times without substantially increasing business. Pink Taco received national buzz before its opening when then-Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross objected to its name, saying it was a vulgar slur that offended women.
The Pink Taco management said the chain wants to concentrate on the Southern California market, with plans to open restaurants in Hollywood and San Diego.
