Wow! That looks fantastic Undies. What are the drawer fronts made out of?

They're wood.  I painted the inserts with the Indian Ink paint, let it dry, laid a piece of that stretch rubbery wafflely shelving liner over them, and sprayed on the gold.  They turned out pretty nice.  I even did the pulls.

Cool, I thought at first they were tin, like they have on pie safes. I like that idea, did you think if of yourself or did one of your cute cable do it yourself home babes give you the idea?

I thought of that one all by my lonesome.  The striped sides, however, happened due to HGTV.  I sprayed the sides gold, let it dry, painted on the Indian Ink, and ran a notched squeegee down through the paint.

This thing took me over a week to finish.

Please excuse my gawdawful work room.

Nice job, Undies. A little creativity, a new coat of paint, and the old is new again.

I see furniture next to the dumpsters in my apartment complex all the time. Some of it does look salvageable. I just don't have the energy to bother with it.

I tried the notched squeegee on a wall, actually my husband tried it. By the way he reacted, I thought he was going to file for divorce over it. I guess it didn't work so well on a large wall.  :lmao:

Thank you.  It's sort of my hobby.  I enjoy doing it on my own time schedule, and only to please myself.  I don't think I would like to do it for a living - trying to please other people.

No, it's not a technique for walls.  Even the "Design On A Dime" crew learned that the hard way.  It works on smooth surfaces, and only if you are not trying to achive perfect stripes.  A zebrawood effect is about the best you can hope for.

WTF is with the paint job on the walls?

That room is the room I have used for years as my "workshop".  The room hasn't been painted in at least 12 years.  The red paint was an attempt to clean a brush.

 :-)

I am in the process of gathering my design thoughts together to turn that room into a nice guest room.  The new furniture, crown molding, shutters, etc. are in the garage.  The drapes and accessories are in the closet.  The new flooring is up in the air.

I was going to paint one or two walls Apple Red, but I've nixed that idea.  That's why I cleaned my brush.

I guess this chest revamp is my workshop swan song.

I once got a big dresser from a thrift shop dirt cheap.  I painted it all white, then painted black roads with yellow divider lines across all of the drawers.  I used matchbox cars with a bolt through them as pulls so it looked like a big highway full of cars.  On the bottom two drawers I made an airport runway and used matchbox planes as the pulls.  On the top I painted a race track so my son could race his cars up there too.

He was super pissed that I had killed off several cars for the pulls and figured out how to get them off.  I then had to superglue them to the wood and then super glue the bolts on. :-)

I seem to remember seeing furniture like that at a ranch in Nevada.............
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Awesome job there!

Thanks.  I'm happy with it.  It looks better than the photos.

Undies, that is too cool! Great job!

Ah, you're too too kind.

Nice chest.  :-)

You shoulda seen her when I had her stripped.

Ur duin it rong!   :-)

Less vacuuming.   :p

It really is a good piece of furniture.  I'm sure it wasn't cheap when new.  It's all wood, except for the plastic draw frames.

That's an imaginative piece.  I saw something like it on one of the shows.  I bet yours was better.
