Author Topic: Taliban Chief Vows 'Amazing' Attack on Washington 'Soon' (Read 5396 times)

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan â€” The commander of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility Tuesday for a deadly assault on a Pakistani police academy and said the group was planning a terrorist attack on the U.S. capital.

Baitullah Mehsud, who has a $5 million bounty on his head from the U.S., said Monday's attack outside the eastern city of Lahore was in retaliation for U.S. missile strikes against militants along the Afghan border.

"Soon we will launch an attack in Washington that will amaze everyone in the world," Mehsud told The Associated Press by phone. He provided no details.

Mehsud and other Pakistani Taliban militants are believed to be based in the country's lawless areas near the border with Afghanistan, where they have stepped up their attacks throughout Pakistan.

The Taliban leader also claimed responsibility for a suicide car bombing that killed four soldiers Monday in Bannu district and a suicide attack targeting a police station in Islamabad last week that killed one officer.

I sleep better knowing Obama has put an end to warrantless wiretaps and electronic sweeps ala ECHELON so that even if Washington DC is reduced to glowing, uninhabitable slag at least our nation will collapse with its civil liberties intact.

I heard Obama make a comment the other day, that the Taliban are "saying they are going to attack us"....and we need to expect it.

...but didn't someone say there really aren't any more "terrorists"?

Just what are those monsters who are saying they are going to attack us?

I fully expect the next round to be like India.

All it will cost them is a dozen or so AK-47's and the dozen or so suicidal camelf*ckers to use them.

Think the Smithsonian or the monuments in D.C. filled with tourists and two guys each with a backpack full of ammo.

Maximum effect, minimal investment.

It's actually not a good idea to float fresh ideas for "What I'd do if I was them boys" on a public internet site, and it would be best to refrain from the temptation to unleash your inner intelligence analyst. The value of being able to say 'I sure called that one' later is not even remotely close to the damage that can be caused by giving the camelhumpers (or just plain nutters) any fresh inspiration. Left to their own devices, they may come up with something that has inherent flaws which will lead to a failed op.

All they would need for their inspiration was the 24/7 news cycle covering the last go round in Mumbai.
