A change to the controversial "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward gays in the military will be delayed despite promises by the Obama administration to overturn the rule, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday.

"The president and I feel like we've got a lot on our plates right now and let's push that one down the road a little bit," Gates told "FOX News Sunday."

But Gates now says the Pentagon will continue to enforce the existing policy, which bars service members from proclaiming their sexual orientation and commanding officers from asking about it. However, the policy states that if it becomes known that a service member is gay, he or she is to be removed from the military.

"It continues to be the law and any change in policy would require a change in the law," Gates said. "We will follow the law, whatever it is.

Methinks The Exalted One is just not ready to start dealing with the backlash of practicing faggots holing up (no pun intended) with regular guys in Tora Bora.

But I believe it's coming. (Again, no pun intended.)

The Exalted One is simply too much of a rabid socialist left wing moonbat to back off on that one for very long.

Sometimes I wonder if Ozero has already given up on the idea of a second term, then I hear something like this, and I think he may be hoping after all.

Queer buttkissing and forced labor union memberships are two items Ozero is tiptoeing away from.  I think it could be for survival.

Saw a couple fo DU threads bemoaning this story. On any military thread about Asscrackinstan at least a few of the more staedfast faithful will chime-in with, "Obama sees reports you do not, maybe you should give him the benefit of the doubt."

Oddly, no such defenses are offered vis-a-vis this particular policy.
