Wednesday is here...midway
« on: February 13, 2008, 05:33:35 AM »
Morning folks. I have the kids home again today. We got a nice freezing rain over night that now has left a layer of ice over everything so the schools are again closed. For some reason, I don't mind today...the kids need to make boxes and bags to collect their Valentine's loot tomorrow so we have plenty to do and keep them occupied. Should be a fun day :cheersmate:

I feel bad for my other half and my mother. They took yesterday off...well my other half worked from home, but i think the roads are far worse today with the ice.yuck.

Well, good morning, folks...get some coffee, have  safe drive to work, get the kids off to school, and good morning.

Driving in it DOES suck, but not as stressful as the assholes who think it's perfectly okay to go 70 mph on snowy/icy roads "because they have 4WD!"

Invariably these clowns are the first ones on their roofs or in the ditches.  Saw at least a half dozen on the way into work and one spin out right in front of me.

8 inches of snow at the house overnight, so I was up at 4:30 snowblowing the driveway.  Between the time I finished, showered, dressed, and got the car out of the garage for work, another 2-3 inches had fallen, and the snowplow had put a nice little foot-high wall at the edge of the driveway which will no doubt be a cast-iron bitch to get out when the snow turns to sleet then rain later today.

TOTD:  Homecooked: Wife makes a chicken/tortilla chip casserole that absolutely ROCKS.  Out: Anyplace that serves a good steak, and Outback is NOT good for comparison purposes.  Ruth's Chris, Smith and Wollensky's, Delmonico's--THOSE are good steaks.

Today is going to be a busy day here....got someone coming in about 45 minutes to give me an estimate on pruning the crepe myrtyles and 26 of the rose bushes (they look like a rat's nest), because we aren't doing it  :rotf:

Then I'm off to meet up with a few gals for a stroller walking group (that has been moved to inside the mall for winter's sake).

Then I've got to dash home to be home in time for my son's early release day from school and  to be here for the guy to do the "winter" service to the furnace and AC (I think he does the AC today too, not sure). Then I might take my son out to get him these sneakers he said he wanted.

That is that.

It is grey and gloomy looking outside. It is supposed to be really windy and cold.

TOTD: My mother's chicken noodle soup. Although I have the recipe, mine doesn't come out quite the same for some reason.

Bleh...I'm supposed to go to the Dr at 11:00, but we have ice everywhere, so I'm trying to decide if I should go.  If I cancel, I get charged a cancellation fee.

Kids are home here again, too.

Another day, more boring classes.    Gotta finish up one essay (one or two more sentences to the concluding paragraph ought to do it), and try to get the rough draft for another finished so I can start proofreading, editing, and such.

Don't know when I'll be moving out officially, but I need to tell Housing it can't happen before Monday, because of all the work I have to do (school and job).

TOTD:  I love my mom's roast.  Next time I'm in Atlanta, she'll be teaching me so I'll be able to cook one here in the apartment. :)
Need to go buy a crockpot (or maybe borrow one).

I'm staying on top of my clean house by running around picking up all the kids crap.  I tried to make them do it last night but it didn't appear that anything was put away.   :censored:

Doing laundry as usual and I'm going to finish that charity quilt today if it kills me.

TOTD: My husband's ribs.  He makes the BEST ribs ever.  He puts a dry rub on them, I don't even use BBQ sauce on them.  YUM!

That might make you mad, that you went and picked up after them like that! Might want to give them a negative consequence for the fact that you told them to do something and they did not.

Seriously, I have my son trained in this arena...he leaves his crap out, it gets tossed, regardless of what it is. I told him that once, and I have had to do it twice. I explained to him when I told himI was doing this that if it was something he really valued, he wouldn't be leaving it laying around.

Good luck with your quilt!

Today was Wednesday?

Nope, In my time today is Monday.  It was my first day back
to work in 9 days and as usually it was a crappy day.  ATC delays
on the east coast, foul pilots, gate agents and dispatchers.
All in all I enjoyed the hell at being back at work.

TOTD: My Mom's Fideo.  Everytime I visit her she will make a big
pan of it for me and what doesn't get eaten she will freeze
for me to take home.

Been busy lately, I started babysitting this cute baby boy yesterday. The kid is okay, the mother is kinda odd. I smell moonbat on her, there is just something about her. But she paid me in advance for the next week so SWEET! Making meatloaf for dinner and mashed potatoes with greens.

TOTD: My hubby makes a kick-ass four cheese lasagna, I LOVE it.

I'd wondered where you'd made off too! Good for you, hon. It will just grow from here and you'll be making a nice little income from it and you'll have the satisfaction of helping other parents out to boot.

My stepmother babysits two or three other children since they have a young girl that has to stay at home.

I babysat kids about 12 years ago.  There was this one kid (her name was Hannah) who would only sit on the couch and stare straight ahead.  She wouldn't even watch Barney.  If I left the room she would be right behind me.  The mom would have days off and still bring the kid to my house, it really bothered me.  Something was wrong with that family.

I had another kid, her name was Emily.  I loved her like my own.  She would always say to me, "Ok Momma".  Her short little fat legs made her butt wiggle back and forth when she walked.  She was the cutest thing ever.
