Who, in your opinion, is the shittiest, meanest, nastiest credit card comapny out there?
   Advertisements [?]

I think it is Capital One. I have NEVER had their card. They have been a client of mine. We fired them cuz they are a TERRIBLE client to work for. I know people who have had their card and it is ALWAYS something in their mailings. They constantly ticker with the terms. This is nothing new.

Who do you think is worst, and why?

3. Amen About Capital One.
I haven't had a credit card in about ten years and had to file for bankruptcy about a decade ago, and Capital One was absolutely the worst bunch of assholes I have had the displeasure of dealing with. They were horrible, and tried to shame me.

Maybe they were just pissed you stiffed them on your bill...some folks are funny like that. :whatever:

4. You named it.
Capital One. I got frustrated with their customer service ... whatever it is that really ISN'T customer service. It's been a long time and I don't remember what the particular incident was.

In other words you just wanted to join the crowd on the thread.

Raised our card to a usurious rate even though we were working with a credit counseling service. And horrible customer service. Since we went through that unfortunate episode, we've had only one credit card, from a CREDIT UNION!

They will do that if you don`t pay them...it is in the agreement you signed when you got the card DUmbass.

10. Capitol One.
I've really had no problem with them, and I've had their card for years.

However, last week I got a letter informing me that my rate was being jacked up to 17.9%.

Now, I'm one of those "deadbeats" who pays off the card every month, so my effective interest rate is 0%.

They probably don't care if I cancel the card, since they are not making any money off me.

I fail to see what the problem is here.

15. Capital One.
I don't have any hard and fast evidence, just anecdotes from friends about family members/friends who were screwed over.

Then Chase.

This is why we call you folks stupid. :loser:

Some of those companies are absurd.  My wife had a Chase Master Card in her name only.  They raised the interest rate on her card because I changed jobs.  It didn't matter that I went to a better paying job.  We promptly told them where they could stuff their card.  It only had about $100 on it at the time.

I don't even know how they knew I changed jobs, but they did.

That's weird, Vagabond.  Spooky.  I agree with the dummies about Capitol One.  They even had an annual fee.   I think the worst one is American Express.  Horrible in every way, I don't even know how they have a sustainable business model.  What's their annual fee now?  $250?  And that buys me.....what?
I've only used it when forced to by some corporation I've worked for.

I don't know what these idiots problems are. I carry three cards. I quit using cash long ago except for piddly things. I pay on my cards twice a month. It has been a very long time since I received a bill with payment due that said anything other than zero!

Always helps to have a credit score of over 700 though. As far as I know, no one I know has ever had their rate go up if you keep your score above 700.
