Boozed-up Clive Cocks, 48, believed his missus Jacqueline had been using the lingerie to turn on a lover, a court heard.

The dad of two started the fire after a row but then got cold feet.

And helped by son Stuart, 15, he doused the flames before firefighters arrived.

Cocks, of Redhill, Surrey, admitted arson that recklessly endangered life and damaging a police cell after his arrest.

He was given a suspended 12-month jail sentence at Guildford Crown Court.
