What's with this crap?
I've not been a member of your online community for long, and I'd like to use this first line to thank you for your insight, and for the lights you as a group brought upon a great number of subjects.
Let us be clear: I know that the different opinions of the people constituting this community make a great part of its strength and interest, but reading through various topics of yours, I've been stunned by some things. The first one being the incredibly bigotted and offensive speeches about homosexual people. I thought democrats were past that. So much for idealising people based on political sympathy. Oh well.
The other thing I still don't understand is the incredibly biased, often stupid and always deconstructive way some (actually quite a lot) of posters have of speaking of the jewish people whenever Israeli governmental policy is involved. The discussion will schematically unfold as such:
OP: Israeli army killed a bunch of babies in Gaza.
Some asshole: I knew it, they control the media through various corporations of israeli global interest, so we'll never know this.
Person #1: Well it IS all over CNN
asshole #2: nay, the joooooz control the media, plus they control the government of the USA, I saw it because the prime minister of a foreign contry populated less than 1/40 the US is telling our secretary of state what he thinks she should do.
Person #1: yeah well everybody wants things. Ms Clinton did not act on the request any way, so what's the deal?
asshole #3: the joooooooz control the world, because as a religious or ethnic relatively small group they have a lot of money and all know each other so they influence government.
Person #1: yeah well if they're so conspirationny and powerful enough to do all these things, don't you think they wouldn't need foreign assistance or even be in this endless consuming war with a third world country? Plus, "jewish people" has absolutely no meaning when it comes to political questions, because you know, it is a group of individuals who despite their place in said group don't share the same world view, opinions, or any ****ing thing.
asshole #4: well last year my cousin was in dallas and he saw a jew urinating on a blind orphan's head ! so you see the truth now !
Person #1: oh what's the use. You're right, dear.
And, while it's been merely unexpected at first, this group of DUers repeating the same old shit is getting on my nerves.
I've spent 8 months between Jerusalem and Ramallah last year. I know how shitty the situation is. I had the chance to meet a lot of people there too. I tried to be as neutral as possible and hope to have understood the many different mainstream points of view that make this particular conflict so during. To make things clear, I do think Israel is digging its own grave and I do of course think that Palestine should be a free and independent state, as should every one who calls him or herself a democrat. Same should be true about latent xenophobia in any form.
Basically my question to you, D.U. is: how many of you feel this way about the jewish people? I need to know before I spend time reading this website, because if the proportion is half as high as I think it is, I'll just go to a real democratic website.

1. If you want to talk about Israeli Palestinian issues, you need to go to the proper forum.
If you are going to accuse people of being bigoted against gays or Jews, you had better bring proof in the form of links or stifle yourself. Unfounded allegations and accusations do not fly here. Nor do gratuitous insults, like the one in your last sentence.
If you want to be happy and hang around for more than sixteen posts, I advise you to read the DU rules from cover to cover. There's a link at the bottom of the page.
All unfounded allegations must occur within 24 business hours.

You're an old sailor in this little lake, and wanna mark your spot by saying things like "if you want to hang around for more than x posts" or "I think you and this website may not be a good fit".
Well I'd thank you for your opinions if they were any good. Unfortunately they're only dull and non constructive. I read your website's guidelines before I wrote the OP.
As you're wasting time throwing dull responses I'm reading a bit more of this megablog and frankly you may be right for the wrong reasons. Don't think I'll stick around.

You did it without offering ANY PROOF.
If you bothered to read the rules, which you may well have done under another name, but are choosing to ignore under this persona you have chosen, you would have read the following:
Do not post messages that are inflammatory, extreme, divisive, incoherent, or otherwise inappropriate. Do not engage in anti-social, disruptive, or trolling behavior. Do not post broad-brush, bigoted statements.
You did that in your OP. All of it. A divisive, inflammatory accusation without proof, accusing DUers of being bigots.
Then, you turn around and try to get shirty with me for pointing it out. I'm not engaging in "territorial pissing"--I am stating plainly that your behavior is inappropriate. It's against the DU rules to make broad brush accusations like you have done in your OP. The fact that you don't even offer a link to go with your accusations makes me wonder if your goal is disruption. Is that direct enough for you?
For someone supposedly "new" to the forum, you seem to know your way around here surprisingly well. Yet you claim to know nothing about our ways, and if this place is a good fit for you? Please. Many of us were born at night, few of us were born LAST night.

2. Perhaps you haven't noticed the "Alert" button yet
Whenever you see stuff like that just click "Alert" and send a message to the mods. They are very good at removing the kind of offensive stuff you describe. And a long-term DUer was recently banned for that kind of behavior.
Poor Tom finally crossed the line on what der OberSkinner would allow his minions to publish.

Quite possible. English isnt my first language at all and there may be a lot of flaws in my understanding of it.
But man some of you sound so bitter. I thought that was only for the small pee pee guys and the republicans.
You aren't familiar with the concept of BDS I take it.
Want to see bitter ? Just try and say something positive about conservatives, GW Bush, Rove or Cheny on DU sometime and you'll see what I mean.

I would rather stay -- accept that I'll be an unpopular DUer -- and speak out against the people to whom you refer in your OP.
And as others have said, you can alert and you can put the worst offenders on ignore.
