Sunnterrific Saturday

50 degrees already!!!  Wo0T!!!  Getting up to 53 today, light rain and a low of 35 tonight.

Got a ribeye defrosting as we speak.  No real work to do around the house except finish the ONE (just one) load of laundry and shovel off the back porch from the accumulation of snow from my time in the frozen tundra.

Many more beers will die today as I grill mammals for the first time since my return home.  Nothing fancy on the side dishes--mac and cheese, veggies, Texas toast, and salad.

Maybe head out for some window shopping at Homey Depot later.  Not going to plant anything for at least a month, but now's a good time to figure out what I'd like to do--I'm thinking planter(s) for herb garden, some tomato plants, maybe jalapenos, and a few more blueberry/raspberry/strawberry bushes/plants this spring.

And don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour tonight!

BEEEEYYYOOOOTIFUL day today!  I have my doors and windows open, and I'm getting ready to head to the ball field to play ball with the boys.

Found some awesome steaks on sale yesterday, so I'm planning on having some steak and mushrooms for dinner tonight...drool.

Gonna be a GOOOOOOD day!

This is a "work" weekend for me.  I brought my book to stave off the boredom.

I was so nice last night, I slept with the windows open.  The cats were on perpetual "watch" for me too.  They almost ruin opening the windows, b/c the fat asses sit right up next to the screen.  LOL

I also forgot--have to make guac this morning.  Silly me.  Oh well, no time like the present to shovel the back porch from two feet of heavy wet accumulation of global warming.

70° and mostly cloudy today.  Probably pretty windy out there as well.  I have to run to the bank and the library; after that, I've got some work I need to do on my car and I may fire up the motorcycle if the battery is not entirely dead.

I just returned from hiking with some friends. I did fine on the hikes (we did two trails) but managed to injure myself on a stupid seesaw on a children's playground. Now I'm sporting a lovely bruise on my inner thigh. The lesson here is: I'm not eight-years-old anymore.  :whatever:

The weather is fantastic though. The high is supposed to be 70 degrees today.

I will be heading over to my folks' house later today for dinner. The sister, BIL, and boys are coming too.

In the meantime, I think I'll just read and chill and maybe even take a nap.

It's a little too warm for my liking here (or maybe it was just my car after I left the ice-cold movie theatre.  :p).

I went to see Watchmen today. My brief review: Jeffrey Dean Morgan wasn't bad at all (my main reason was to see just how he performed in an entirely different role from the usual ultimate nice guy role), but Jackie Earl Hayley was the scene stealer as Rorschach.    As I rarely see R-rated movies, I actually didn't freak out over all the blood and gore (well, if you're going into the medical field, you have to desensitize yourself to such sights...).   Is it wrong to say I enjoyed watching hippies get beaten up by the Comedian?  :uhsure:

I won't go into further detail here, until others have seen it and want to discuss it.  I'd give the movie 4 out of 5 stars.

I think you'll like it.  I never got through the whole graphic novel (borrowed from a friend recently) so I wasn't expecting the movie's ending and how it played out (being shocked made the movie experience better, IMO).

Got together with a bunch of friends and we wound up doing way too many jello shots and eated a ton o' pizza.

I heard one of my favorite drinking songs tonight!

Yesterday was a beautiful day in St Louis. Went to the zoo and sort of goofed around. I didn't go stand at one specific cart, but took a tiger skin and headed up to Big Cat Country. Discovered that I really am allergic to cats. My hands broke out just from holding that skin. (Was wheezing, weepy eyed, sneezing when in Florida last year staying in a house with 5 cars).

It was glorious outside. The animals were feeling good, too. The zoo was packed. We have 5 tiger cubs that are almost a year old and almost full grown. But they were playing like gigantic kittens in their large enclosure. They chased each other, jumped into their "swimming" pool, took small logs and batted them around in the water, stole them from each other, pulled the tails of their litter mates, jumped on each other, chewed on the legs of the other cubs. Everyone was fascinated.

Then saw the new baby giraffe, just a couple weeks old. He was bothering an ostrich in the enclosure, which promptly extended its wings and tried to attack the baby. The adult giraffes closed ranks around the baby. There was one frustrated, disgruntled ostrich in that enclosure.  :-)

I also saw the new baby takin, which was adorable. I laughed at the parents who pointed out the wild donkeys. I asked them if they meant the "Somali Wild Asses". They said, "sssssh". Oy!  :-)
