T.O. & Roy Williams Cut from Cowboys

Source: Dallas Cowboys release Terrell Owens

IRVING – Wide receiver Terrell Owens, whose future with the Dallas Cowboys has been in question since the off-season began, was cut late Wednesday night, according to a source.

Owner and general manager Jerry Jones hinted at Owens' return at a news conference two weeks ago but never definitively said Owens would be back for the 2009 season. Last week at the NFL scouting combine, Jones said the media caught his "drift" about Owens' return but did not elaborate.

Efforts to reach the Cowboys for comment were unsuccessful late Wednesday night. Owens was unable to be reached, and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not return phone calls or e-mail.

A spokesman for Owens told The Associated Press said he hadn't heard the news, originally reported by ESPN.

Well, that's not surprising.

Why ruin the team chemistry.  You guys have enough weapons without TO.

New England Patriots T.O. Index 22

Receiver need: Low. They already have Randy Moss and Wes Welker. We saw what happened in Dallas when Owens didn't think he was getting enough attention from Tony Romo. The Patriots might need another receiver after losing Jabar Gaffney to free agency, but I think Moss and Owens on the same team with Tom Brady is against the Geneva Convention.

 :-)

Can you imagine it though -- especially if BB can make him a team player?

Brady would break records like you wouldn't believe.   The Pats would go undefeated.........

Too bad he is a total putz.   :bawl:

BB tamed Moss, and Moss unlike TO, was known for giving up on his team on the field.   TO has NEVER done that.  He make be a puke of the highest order, but he always plays hard.

The Patriots locker room would never stand for TO being TO.    If BB nabs him at discount prices on a one year incentive contract then just damn skippy.   Sit back and watch history be made.

BB has done some remarkable things with his current roster.  I don't know if he can change TO.  To his credit Owens never gives up, but I think that same mind set keeps his mouth running when he should shut the hell up.

I'd say the exact opposite. TO is a cancer to any team's morale and camaraderie.

I don't want him on the Packers, not that we would even try to get him.  I won't deny that he is an incredibly gifted receiver, but IMHO he is the worst kind of cancer you can bring into a locker room.

I've hated* T.O. for so long I would have a hard time seeing him on my beloved Seahawks. But I can't deny that he would make the team awful damn good. Scary good. (OK, I want him in Seattle... maybe)

In other news, Jason Witten fantasy stock value is at an all time high.

*Yeah, I "hate" Owens but get real. This is just sportsfan, he's the villain, why ya gotta be an asshole "hate" not real hate. I'd be happy to get his autograph (if only to sell it on e-bay) and I would not feel that way about, say, Algore.

BTW, we had a guy as egotistical as he was on the Giants roster (my #2 team). His name was Tiki Barber. When he retired and got tired of talking trash about our QB and team, we won the Superbowl.

Yeah it was Tiki that kept ya down.   I guess I was the only one who read (and immensely enjoyed) the Eli bashing in the media 24/7.

Eh, we'll see how their tune changes after the Burress reinstatement works, or doesn't work, out. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Redskins' uni. also.

I'm happy to know there is more than one of us rooting for the Pack, but I have to disagree on us even contemplating calling TO's agent.  We have hole in the offense, but at the tackle postions, both left and right, not the receivers.

we have a hole in the entire defense, considering how old harrris and woodson are getting.  and hawk is almost a bust.  the packers scored enough points to go .500, but rogers has got to find a way to pull a game out in the last two minutes.  now, I know that coming after favre, that is a tough act to follow, but he had EIGHT chances to come from behind last season and either win, or tie.  he got zero.

That wouldn't be a good fit given the type of team they are. He seemed to act fine the year Philly went to the Super Bowl and he was fine two years ago when Dallas was 12-4 and the number seed in the NFC. It's when a team starts to slide you see the worst of him.

He acts squirrelly the whole time. He had the suicide episode in 2006 and then last year they were 8-4 when Romo returned from the IR list and he started his manipulative bullshit.
