R.I.P. sir

And please say hellp to Mr. Pyle and Mr. Murrow for me.  I'm sure they'll be glad to see you again.

ABC Radio Networks Statement on the Passing of Paul Harvey
Saturday February 28, 8:34 pm ET

DALLAS, Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is a statement from Jim Robinson, President of ABC Radio Networks, on the passing of Paul Harvey:
Paul Harvey was one of the most gifted and beloved broadcasters in our nation's history. As he delivered the news each day with his own unique style and commentary, his voice became a trusted friend in American households. His career in radio spanned more than seven decades, during which time countless millions of listeners were both informed and entertained by his "News & Comment" and "Rest of the Story" features. Even after the passing of his loving wife Angel in May 2008, Paul would not slip quietly into retirement as he continued to take the microphone and reach out to his audience. We will miss our dear friend tremendously and are grateful for the many years we were so fortunate to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are now with his son Paul Jr. and the rest of the Harvey family.

Unmistakeable delivery and his ad-reading often left you wonder if he was talking about a story instead of a product.

He'll be missed.

I remember listening to him back in the mid-Sixties with my Dad when we went on calls. When I think of Paul Harvey I think of Dad.

There are some things that are indelibly printed into ones mind amd memories.
Paul Harvey will forever be the sound of lunchtime when I was growing up those days I wasn`t in school.
He was on right after 12:00 pm and mam and my father always turned the radio on to hear him.

A pioneer and the forerunner of Rush and all the rest.
Straight talker with a wry sense of humor and deep insight about life.

He was a national treasure.

Every day one got to listen to Paul was a "Good Day!" indeed.

God speed, Mister Harvey.

RIP Paul Harvey. I remember you well and listened to you as often as I could. Yours is voice that will be terribly missed from now on. I started listening to him when I was in high school around 1976 -1977. This is sad news.

R.I.P.

I had the opportunity to meet him back in the 70's.

My Father listened to him all the time. I used to beg him to switch to music. Then I became part of his audience. His wit and style will be missed.

There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site

RIP, Mr. Harvey... :(

When my first stepdad was still alive, he would often be the one to take me to school on the way to work.  On the way, he almost always tuned into Paul Harvey's show (that and some oldies music).  I was quite young then,  but I still understood and enjoyed much of his commentary.

My dad and I carpooled, I dropped him off at work, then I went to school, picking him back up after work. (Private school was about 20 miles from where we lived)

You sparked a memory, we would always hear Paul Harvey on the way home....it was one of the few highlights of the AM only radio!
