Last Thursday in February.
« on: February 26, 2009, 08:36:44 AM »
What's on your agenda?

My boys both have dentist appointments this afternoon.  Of course, I made the appointments 6 mths ago, at their last cleaning, and didn't realize how much of a pian it would be to get everyone where they needed to be today.  :hammer:   Never fails.

But I think I have it all covered...my daughter's catching a ride to dance with a friend, I'll grab my older son as he's getting off the bus, then I'll pick my youngest up from school and squeek to the appointment just in time.

Adjudication tonight for dance...PITA.  They have to perform 2 dances for the adjudicator, full make-up/costume, who will then pick the one they will perform at SERBA in May.  They have been doing nothing but working on these dances since January 4th.  Of course the one I really like will probably not be the one that is picked.  At least after this, we might get back to a "normal" schedule.

Need to pay bills today, and make a grocery list.  Yay.

Today will be a busy day.  It's statement day.  I cannot run statements until I close out the deposits and a finance guy yesterday asked me if I could hold it open b/c supposedly we're getting a check via FedEx and it has to be deposited today.  Well I agreed to do that, then realized that today is statements.  To top it off, I have a dentist appointment at 1:15.  Also, I gotta bust ass doing some hard cleaning in the kitchen with the expected arrival of the fridge this Saturday.  I need to empty out the fridge and I really wanna scrub everything.  And I'm going out to happy hour tomorrow, so it's gotta be done today.

Also my house did that strange thing where the electricity is out in half the house.  So, no lights in the bedrooms or bathroom.  The outlets do still get power, the alarm clock works, but not the tv.  Oh and of course my internet is set up in a bedroom, so no internet until the power decides to work again.  It's a PITA.  (And it's not a breaker).

AND!  I got another stupid mailing from AARP yesterday!  I got one a month ago, my card included!  I laughed and ignored it.  Well I got another one.  LOL!  I called them to remove myself from the mailing list and the girl was like "is there a reason?" I said "Yeah, I'm only 28."   :lmao:

Oh and old nasty lady next to me is apparently getting more music from her boyfriend.  If I hear the song "My Girl" on more time, I'll be on the news tonight.   :hammer:

No worries here--last 12-hour day in the frozen tundra.  Working until lunchtime tomorrow, then checking out and flying home Saturday.

I have to work on my tool box for the new job. ALL tools must be etched and ready for the new job. What sucks is doing all of those little sockets. Yesterday, it was 82° here in N Central Texas. Today is supposed to be the same.

Just left class and grabbed lunch.  Got a surprise on my Facebook.... I thought one of you had reported me to Facebook for a TOS violation...   :bawl: :lmao: turns out, it's likely to be some sort of "phishing" expedition.   So if y'all see my name or someone else's saying that we reported you.... that's not true. :p  Just spam of some sort.  Changing the password and any other account details should probably stop it.

I am back at the apartment hanging out in my pajamas again since I don't go to work until 3.  :p

We got in here at about 1 in the morning last night.  The rental condo is pretty spiffy.  It's about 4 times bigger than our first apartment.

There was nothing in the kitchen but coffee filters, salt and pepper and a half pack of Players Navy Cut cigarettes.  :-)

I am ensconced on the patio right now drinking coffee and smoking said English tobacco right now.

It's in the 60's which is kind of a rare treat considering the amount of snow when we flew out. I am wearing cargo pocket shorts and sneaks without socks and pretty much in heaven.

The flight was kinda brutal.  Fully packed Airbus 319 and the Mancub was okay for about the 1st hour and then he was over tired and cramped.  Real trooper though.  He wound up sleeping for about half the flight.

We are gonna hit Denny's for breakfast here when everyone is up and moving and then go to the wild animal park for the bulk of today. Do some grocery shopping for the rest of the trip on the way home.

I really cannot recommend owner rentals for vacation rather than hotels enough for people who like comfort and want to save some cash.  I cannot believe the size of this place and the niceness and comfort level, especially considering that this is costing us about 4-500 dollars less than a hotel would have run us for a family vacation in San Diego.

How hard is it to etch "Thor" on a bunch of sockets.  :-)

Actually, it's the first letter of my last name & the last four of my SSAN. Only five characters, but the sockets are pretty tedious.

yeah, especially when you get down to pubic hair diameter. Question, for you Hammer-man: What size ratchet do you use for those teensy pubic-hair sized sockets?

smallest I have is 3/16" . Those are 1/4" drive ratchets that fit those sockets. I also have another 1/4" driver for stuff that doesn't have too much torque on them.

w00t!  A bank is coming tomorrow to pick up & pay for a vehicle I started the proceedings to do a mechanic's lien on.  I was talking to the bank, and said "she's said she's coming in to pay, so you know if she does show up before you I have to let her have it."  He said "that's fine, we'll just repo it from her house."   :-)

Now, I'm just waiting for the copy of a vehicle's history from Tennessee (it's taking FOREVER) so I can start on another vehicle.

Well I had an eventful day.  I schedule a hair appointment for my youngest daughter at noon today.  When ever I scheduled it after school she would be so behind that we wouldn't get home until 8:00 PM or later.  She is never on time and always full of excuses.  If she didn't do such a good job of cutting hair I would have left her long ago.  The last time I had an appointment she was 45 minutes late showing up.  I called her several times and txt her.  Her "boyfriend" called me back saying she had started her period and had to come back home to change her pants and would be there any minute.  When she finally got there she said he was lying and that he stole her phone.  She also said the guy who had her phone told her I rescheduled my appointment for an hour later.  I didn't believe her when she told me but I decided it was a PITA to change hair people (men wont understand this) so I let it slide as I had done many times before.

Anyway, I was the first of my friends and family to go to her.  I have brought her at least 15 clients over the past few years.  Everyone dreads going to her because she is always late (and very unprofessional).  She stood my friend Michele up just last week.  Anyway, I was running about 10 minutes late.  I called her at 5 to 12:00.  Left her a message saying I would be about 10 minutes late.  She never called back.  I show up and she isn't there.  I call her again, still got her answering machine.  Called her 10 minutes later, answering machine.  Then I txt her and about 5 minutes later I get a txt from the same "boyfriend" saying that an ambulance took her away at 2am and then he asked me if I had an appointment today.  I replied YES I had an appointment (why did he think I txt her and asked her when she was going to show up to cut my daughters hair?  :whatever: ) and then asked what happened to her.  While I was waiting for the response I asked if anyone else could cut my daughters hair and someone could (I may use this woman now).

WHile I'm on the phone to my friend Michele he calls and leaves a message on my cell phone.  He said that she was throwing up and her stomach hurt and that she was in the hospital.  He said he was calling all of her clients that had appointments that day.  I thought to myself, "a little late calling me, I had an appointment an hour ago".  I know the story is BS.  She had called me yesterday trying to reschedule the appointment for 3 pm and I said I wanted to keep the noon appt.  I think she went out last night and got wasted and had planned on going out when she called me to reschedule and knew it would be hard for her to get up and couldn't get her ass up this morning (she IS not a morning or afternoon person).

I decided to tell another friend who's family goes to her as well.  I sent her a txt then immediately I noticed I had txt my hair stylist and not my friend.  I had said in the txt how sick I was of the shit and that I didn't believe her.  LOL  I sat there freaking out for a bit, called a couple of friends, my mom and husband and they all laughed their ass off at me then said it needed to be said anyway.  So I txt her again and told her that txt was obviously not meant for her but that everything I said in it I meant.  Told her I was sick of it taking several hours to just get a hair cut and that everyone's time is important...blah blah blah.  I told her that I didn't believe she was in the hospital but if she was really ill I hoped she got better soon and left it at that.  I KNOW that the ambulance and hospital story is a lie.  If her "boyfriend" (who she claims in NOT her boyfriend) knew she wouldn't be at work today and an ambulance took her away at 2 am, why didn't he call everyone this morning?  I just don't believe it, she always has a story and an excuse for why she is late and this is just another one.

I swear this crap only happens to me.   :p

I also took my daughter to eat lunch and she was complaining about her tooth hurting her.  She had been complaining for the last week but I didn't take it all that seriously but was planning on scheduling an appt in the next few days.  I decided since she was already out of school I would try to get her in to see the dentist.  He saw her at 2:30.  She had two cavities that were right next to each other on two baby molar teeth.  They were so bad that after the dentist got in there he found that she needed a root canal in both teeth.  She had the cavity the last time she got her teeth cleaned but he thought the teeth would fall out in a few months (if he pulled them she would have had to have a spacer).  Obviously they didn't.  He said that both teeth didn't appear to be going anywhere for 6 - 12 months so he needed to do root canals rather than just pulling them.  He didn't crown either tooth because they would fall out soon and it wouldn't be worth it.  He also pulled two teeth that were hanging on for dear life.  The permanent teeth were right under them but the baby teeth just didn't want to go.  My kid was a real trooper and did so well.  I sat and watched them do everything and she didn't even flinch when they gave her the shots.  I'm $900 poorer but will get reimbursed for most of it from dental insurance.

I'm tired now.

Wow.  I was gonna ask you for the info for the girl that does your hair (again), but I'll pass now.

I went to the dentist as well today.  You're poor daughter.  When I was little I had a ton of cavities in my baby teeth.  I've never had a root canal, but the idea of it scares me to death.

I've had a couple of root canals, they really don't hurt any more than just having a cavity filled (just takes more time).

Yeah I wouldn't recommend her any time soon.  If she gets her shit together I'll let you know.  She is so good at what she does, it's a shame she is pissing it away.

Oh, speaking of hair, the whole deal is that I thought my hair stylist quit and was just gonna do it from home, and I thought I had lost her card with the cell number in it.

Anywho, I found it today and gave her a call and she said that she's still working at Ulta and just does every other weekend.  :yahoo:

She's always cut my hair just perfectly, I've been dreading this whole time finding someone new.

Yeah I think it's the name "root canal" that's so scary.

Having a good hair stylist is as important to a woman (and probably a gay man) as a good doctor when you are chronically ill.

It really is.  I've been going to this same girl for like 10 years.  I'm always so vague about what I want "kinda like this, but trim it up, and choppy."

When I was in high school I told the woman (she only cut my hair this one time) long layers and I ended up with the "Rachel."  It was horrible.  I have naturally curly hair, so I can't have short layers like that.  Yuck!  It took forever for it to grow out too.

Damn, sure is nice being a guy, and not some metrosexual at that.  10 minutes in a barber chair, #1 or 1/2 blades on the sides, just enough to lay down on top, and I'm good for another 6 weeks.

Ick, I might be going to the dentist soon... for some reason, I'm having this sharp ache where there used to be a wisdom tooth... a friend of mine joked that it was some sort of "phantom" pain.  But my wisdom teeth have been gone for about 4 years now. :(  Any ideas? I thought I might have a cavity, but when I stuck my finger back there, the pain was obvious as to where it was coming from (and NOT that back molar, thank God). :(

Is it in a toof, or in the gum?  I had some nerve pain in a tooth a few years ago... had it x-rayed and was expecting a root canal.  The dentist didn't find anything out of the ordinary and I've never had any problems with my teeth since then.

Is now a bad time to mention I rarely get colds either?
