My husband lost his first job out of college. It was at an Industrial Design firm. We had just bought a house. He worked THREE jobs (two part time and one full time crap jobs) to keep us afloat (I also worked at the time). Then he found a job in Lake Havasu City (we lived in Phoenix at the time), so he lived in Lake Havasu and I stayed back in Phoenix to sell our house. It took us about 4 months to sell our house. I worked and had a one and a half year old and had to keep the house spic and span to sell. It was not a fun time.
Then there was the time I had a stroke and was diagnosed with Takayasu's Arteritis. I was in the hospital for a week (a few of those days in ICU) with NO insurance. This was during the glorious days of Clinton (so was the job loss period). It took us YEARS to pay off my medical expenses (we were also paying off my husband's college loans at the same time, which took us 10 years by the way). We weren't "rich" by any means, in fact I had to take in several children (3 plus my own) to help pay the bills. This was only a few months after I had my stroke. I took all of the kids with me to my monthly doctor appointments because I had no other choice. You do what you have to do.
We have built up our credit to 800 over a long period of time and it wasn't easy. Everyone has a friggen sob story, the sooner you stop thinking of yourself as a victim your life wont seem so bleak. My husband works his ASS off to provide for our family. He had been with the same company for 15 years and had worked his way up to an "Evil Repuke VP". He wasn't handed anything, he paid for his own college, he isn't working off the back of anyone. He hasn't taken from you sad losers at DU, he has worked for everything we have today. I am getting sick of all this crap, to the point that I am willing to do what it takes to get the ****ers you (DU'ers) voted for out of office. It is people like you who have motivated me to get off my ass and do something about this crap. "Screw You" you friggen losers.
