BlooInBloo (1000+ posts) Thu Feb-19-09 09:04 PMResponse to Original message 5. Quoted in full... Wednesday's Page Six cartoon - caricaturing Monday's police shooting of a chimpanzee in Connecticut - has created considerable controversy. It shows two police officers standing over the chimp's body: "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill," one officer says.It was meant to mock an ineptly written federal stimulus bill.Period.But it has been taken as something else - as a depiction of President Obama, as a thinly veiled expression of racism. This most certainly was not its intent; to those who were offended by the image, we apologize. However, there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past - and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback. To them, no apology is due.Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon - even as the opportunists seek to make it something else.
MrModerate (1000+ posts) Thu Feb-19-09 09:05 PMResponse to Original message 6. And, Mr. Post, if your feelings were hurt by the suggestion that . . . You're a scummy sack of offal whose customers should dump you in toto, I apologize for that.It wasn't my intent to suggest that you eat shit and die, and I'm sorry if you saw it that way. I never meant to imply that your entire existance is an insult to all that is right and good, but if that bothered you, I really hope you can get over it.But if you did actually intend to spew racist filth, you crap-eating pigdog, well, then **** you and the horse you rode in on.
And there was what to apologize for?
NY Post: We're sorry if you were offended by the chimp cartoon.
That sounds like the kind of apology a Democrat would give. They should accept it wholeheartedly.
There's a reason why patriotism is considered a conservative value. Watch a Tea Party rally and you'll see people proudly raising the American flag and showing pride in U.S. heroes such as Thomas Jefferson. Watch an OWS rally and you'll see people burning the American flag while showing pride in communist heroes such as Che Guevera. --Bob, from some news site
