I have been closely watching the stimulus fight in Washington. The Republicans are showing their true colors in that rather than helping the working person of our country they are trying to protect conservative policies from being shown to be utter failures while trying to act like they are thinking about us.

When they complain about passing a debt on to our children and grandchildren they don't mean "our" children but their children. The ones who will go on to be tomorrow's capitalists and outsourcers. Tomorrow's bosses who will be the users or third world labor. The people who will attempt to make slaves of our children and grandchildren.

I can't blame them for being scared. Their whole world view is built on making it easier for rich people to do whatever they want to do to us. They have no intention of letting their privileged offspring live in world where there is something even approaching a level playing field.

They have no concern for "our" children, they showed that as clear as glass when they voted against expanding health coverage for children. They nearly always vote against any additional funding for education. They let our nation's food safety slip to the point that we routinely feed our children poison without even knowing it.

The generation of the next twenty years will not remember the lessons learned from our mid century fight against totalitarianism. They will have to learn all over again how tomorrow's Hitlers and Stalins use ignorance and fear to gain control. Those Republicans are trying to lay the ground work for their spawn to be the ones to wield the iron fist against our children. When they talk of protecting our children they are talking of defending the status quo into the next generation when maybe, just maybe, their children will have an easier time becoming our absolute masters.

I am getting older now. I might have another 20 or 25 years. Will I live to see our children continue on to defend themselves from tyranny or will I live to see the republican's hellspawn start up the soylent green factories? Sometimes when I see just a couple of republicans sabotage an entire Democratic majority in congress, I wonder.

 

Among all the garbage, angry made a valid point.  This is a battle for our children versus their children...because our children will all be raised with the expectation of being a positive force in society.  They will work, own businesses, pay taxes, support our grandchildren, and be of value to the country.

Their children will require government funded healthcare, government hand-outs, and the freedoms to march down main street butt-naked, smoke weed & take mind-altering drugs...and will never be of any value to our country at all.

For the next 4 years, we may be losing this all-important battle to the truly "rich," the O's, the Dims, and those like UP that will never work for their living.

I agree.  Their whole lives revolve around "the gov't owes me a living," and they're passing this non-sense on to their kids, a form of child abuse if you ask me.

angrycarpenter and his ilk don't want a level playing field (though that's what they claim).  They want revenge against anyone who has taken the words "life, liberty, and the pursuit of hapiness" to really mean what it says.  In essance, they hate freedom, because freedom doesn't guarantee equality of outcome

I seem to remember a quote by Thomas Jefferson, IIRC, that I used for my sig line:  "The Constitution guarantees life, liberty, (emphasis mine) and the pursuit of happiness.  You still have to catch it yourself."

That's why they'll never be happy--they don't want to exert the effort to catch happiness.  They want it spoon-fed to them.  They're being spoon-fed, alright . . .

The moron apparently fails to grasp that if the resulting debt load becomes an economic millstone to the generations yet to come, as it will, everyone will be adversely affected, in fact "Women, children, and minorities most affected" would have some truth to it for once, because the mythical plutocrats which this old Commie detests, being the evil oligarchs that they are, would be able to shelter their wealth anyway.

Wow.  The DUmmie got one right.  We ARE worried about our children paying it off.  Their children won't pay a d*med dime....ours will be left to foot the bill as usual.

I dunno -- I sort of like the implication -- actually a direct statement -- that "their" children will be working for "our" children.

That is 100% correct.

We teach our children self-reliance, responsibility and honesty.  They teach their children dependency, blame and how to work the system to Get Yours.
