Friday (the 13th!)
« on: February 13, 2009, 05:10:20 AM »
Well, even though it's still dark outside--this is about 5:05 a.m. central time, 4:05 a.m. mountain time--there's a sense of drear and foreboding in the atmosphere, and not because of politics and one wonders what's going to happen.

A big snow about ready to dump on the whole entire state of Nebraska, and the forecast was changed overnight, so that snow is predicted through next Tuesday.

Temperatures however should be tolerable.

I knew something was going on during the middle of the night, when all of the cats suddenly wanted indoors, and ran over each other once the door was open to let them in.

Usually when the cats want indoors, even after opening the door wide for them, one still has to yell at them, to see that the door's open.  In this case, they started coming in before the door was even open enough for them to squeeze through.

on edit : I added "the 13th" to your thread title, Frank.

The cats must know it's Friday the 13th. I would stay inside also.

They always know don't they frank?

It's so windy here! I had to steady myself going up the stairs or risk getting knocked over. It's supposed to be 45-50 today though.

I actually took a vacation day today since Monday is a holiday. I'm kind of excited about the four day weekend! Mr. Belle (who is a peach) sent me early Valentine's Day flowers to the offfice yesterday and he built (okay assembled) a pantry unit and kitchen island for me. It's shaping up to be a good weekend! Now I have to figure out the best way to say thanks. A homemade raspberry pie and a nice steak dinner are on the list.....

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

35 degrees & sunny here.  I "get" to donate a day to the office tomorrow.  They laid off 10 people two weeks ago because work was "slow".  Now we're working even more overtime to keep up.  Go figure.

Looks like it will be a heck of a storm, Frank!

Still windy here, but not as bad as yesterday.  I think our house faired ok...from what we can see, no shingles missing or anything.  We extra supported our fence yesterday, so it's still sanding, unlike my neighbors fence, which is now in pieces.  A bunch of houses in the neighborhood lost a bunch of shinges, and tree limbs, etc.

One of our "projects" is close to being completed...the car Mr Flame got in Dec, but wanted to fix up a couple things, should be up and running this weekend, but we'll have to wait until next week to get it registered, I think.  Once thats done, we can concentrate on the basement again.

Going to take my daughter shopping this afternoon, other than that, a quiet day.

Sun's out....supposed to be 62 today, rain coming in tonight and temps are going back to the 40's and lower for the foreseeable future.

Doing reports all day and showing a house at 4.....

Power's still out in places around the county and in my area of the county. News said my area was one of the worst with damage. When I went out yesterday, there are several trees down in the neighborhood. The neighbors up the street had a big one go down over their drive, just barely missed the house. They are on the same side of the street as we are....we must have had some very strong winds go through here.  :o

We got about 2" of snow last night, and it looks like more is in store for the rest of the weekend.
I'm staying inside and playing WoW.

March will be a repeat. Better find two virgins.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Dipping into the 30's again for a little bit.  Tiny bit of flurries expected today.

I'm feeling marginally more human today.  I'm not coughing like a mad bastid but my sinuses are still all mucked up. :p

Stupid puppy crawled up on my chest on the sofa earlier and knocked me right out.  She's like a hot water bottle.  She's crashed so hard she didn't even stir when I rolled her off and got up.  I think she has gained 10 pounds since she came home. All feet and legs right now. :)

Looking forward to a new episode of BSG tonight.

You're gonna love it when she's an 80 lb lap dog.

Actually I really will.  One of my big regrets with Maggie, our late dog, was that she was not a "Cuddler". She was so pack conscious that she didn't like to get in a position where she was appearing to dominate anyone.

I love laying and watching TV with a big 'ole dog draped across my legs. :)

I got half way to work this morning and my contact started bothering me, so I had to go back home and pick up my glasses.   :whatever:

Anywho, arrived at work at the early hour of 10am.  I have a test out exam today at 5pm, so I'm leaving at 4.  These 6 hour days are rough!

Good news:  Boss is off again today.

Great news:  Drinking with the Sweet Dee tonight.   :-)

Blue is a 62 or 63 pound lap dog. He's a real cuddler.

It's sunny today but chilly. It's been very quiet at the office today, no customer complaints, no calls at all.

Friday the 13th was the day when SR popped the question. We didn't even think about it, laughed about it later, thought maybe we should have waited til the next day.  :-)
