"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Police arrested a man near the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday after he drove up to one of the building's barricades with a rifle in his vehicle and told officers that he had a delivery for President Obama, a Senate spokesman said.

A man drove to the Capitol with a rifle and said he had a delivery for President Obama, police said.

Sgt. Kimberly Schneider identified the man as Alfred Brock, 64, of Winnfield, Louisiana. She said Brock was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition."This is CNN.

Unregistered ammunition?  WTF is that?

I don't know of any law that requires ammunition to be "registered". However, it IS DC.

Unregistered ammunition?  WTF is that?

It is this:
http://www.ammunitionaccountability.org/Technology.htm

The objective is to raise the cost of ammunition so high that we lowly citizens can not afford it. Additionally, if this legislation is passed, personal reloading of ammunition will be outlawed and all of your reloading equipment must be turned over to authorities.
If someone steals ammunition from you and uses it in a crime, you could be charged if you haven not reported the theft within 48 hours.

Sieg Heil!!

Patriot Game...... I'm well aware of that legislation and vehemently oppose it. That is WHY ammunition is so terribly expensive to be had, WHEN you can find it. I was at the local Walmart on Monday. Their shelves were almost bare. What I didn't know was whether or not some of it had already been enacted. Apparently, DC, had something like that on the books, but it has been repealed by the House, but NOT the senate.

House Votes to Repeal D.C. Gun Laws

Voting 250 for and 171 against, the House of Representatives on Sept. 29 passed The District of Columbia Personal Protection Act (HR 3193) repealing the District of Columbia's gun control laws.

Now awaiting Senate action, the measure would legalize the possession of handguns, semi-automatic assault weapons and armor-piercing bullets in the federal city. The bill would repeal registration requirements for firearms and ammunition, remove criminal penalties for possessing unregistered weapons and allow residents to have loaded firearms at home.

Rep. Zach Wamp, (R-Tenn.), called it "fallacious to insinuate to people that somehow they are going to be safer if you ban guns. There are no facts to back that up....The truth is that when we control guns, the bad guys have plenty, and there is a gun culture, and the good guys cannot defend themselves."

Specifically the bill would:

# Amend the District of Columbia Code to provide that the D.C. Council's regulatory authority regarding firearms, explosives, and weapons in the District shall not be construed to permit the Council, the Mayor, or any governmental or regulatory authority of the District to prohibit, constructively prohibit, or unduly burden the ability of persons otherwise permitted to possess firearms under Federal law from acquiring, possessing in their homes or businesses, or using for sporting, self-protection or other lawful purposes, any firearm neither prohibited by Federal law nor regulated by the National Firearms Act.

# Deny the District any authority to enact laws or regulations that discourage or eliminate the private ownership or use of firearms.

# Amend the Firearms Control Regulations Act of 1975 to repeal the definition of a machine gun as any firearm which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily converted or restored to shoot semiautomatically, more than 12 shots without manual reloading. (Thus repeals the ban on semiautomatic weapons.)

# Repeal the District's: (1) registration requirement for possession of firearms, (2) prohibition on registration of pistols (handguns), (3) prohibition on possession of handgun ammunition, (4) requirement that, under certain conditions, firearms in the possession of certain individuals must be kept unloaded, disassembled, or with the trigger locked, (5) related firearm registration requirements such as applicant qualifications and filing deadline.

# Maintain the current ban on the possession and control of a sawed-off shotgun, machine gun, or short-barreled rifle.

# Eliminate criminal penalties for possessing an unregistered firearm.

# Amend Federal law to eliminate criminal penalties for carrying a pistol whether loaded or unloaded in one's dwelling house, place of business, or on land possessed by such person.

I would think that under the intent of the framers, ammunition would be considered implicit in the right to keep and bear arms.  Unfortunately, they neglected to make it an explicit included right, and that's how we get here today...

On the other hand, how many ammo presses and dies will be sold now?

hi,

I just laid out $1500 for reloading equipment because I knew the cost was going through the roof.  Most target shooters reload their own for the sake of accuracy.  On a good day I can hit groups between 1/2 and 1/4 inch at 100 yards and no way can that be done effectively with factory ammunition.

I am a member of two gun clubs and the one here in FL the average age of members is probably over 65.  Just a bunch of harmless old guys who like to put holes in paper and solve the problems of the world before we go for lunch.  We have concluded that the public should be very wary of a 70 year old man with one gun.  Likely he knows how to use it and he realizes at this stage in life he has a lot less to lose than you do.

We support our club by hosting three gun shows a year at the local civic center.  We just had the largest show ever in January and we were concerned the fire marshall might have to shut it down because it was so crowded, too many people for the convention center.  One of our members said he thinks the left is wacky enought that they would have their own terrorist attack, have some nut case come in and try to start shooting things up just for the bad publicity it would cause.

One would never want to be charged with being cruel or an improper response to shooting a terrorist.  What we have concluded is you continue to shoot until they stop twitching.....

"ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Florida gun dealers say they are running out of ammo following a surge of buying in the wake of Barack Obama's election as president.
The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said Tuesday that the economic downturn may also be fueling the increased demand for bullets, which are seen as a vital supply like plywood before a hurricane.

"The survivalist in all of us comes out," said John Ritz, manager of East Orange Shooting Sports in Winter Park. "It's more about protecting what you have."UPI

No where in this article do they mention that people may be fearing the the gun grab, and ammunition taxes that 0Bama may impose. Those are probably just as big of reasons as the economy.

Anybody ever hear what kind of rifle this was?  I am guessing it was something totally unexceptional like a .22 or the headlines would have been screaming about an "EVIL MILITARY-STYLE BLACK ASSAULT RIFLE!!!111!!!"

Hi,

I have nothing to compare RCBS with.  I started in Cabelas when I was in IL for the summmer.  Cabelas had the RCBS DVD and I bought one.  Several of my friends have their equipment so I ordered the entire bit.  I only reload .223 and .204 Ruger.  I will say this about RCBS, their tech service is top notch and if you need a thinkamig or whatchamacallit because you messed up and did not know what you were doing it will show up quickly and they have yet to charge me.  They are really good on the phone also.

There was one funny thing that you might enjoy.  I have the new gadget where I can prime pretty quickly with a strip.  I am using the Federal 205M small rifle primers.  Well the tool has a plastic device that guides the primers into the cartridge, one is for the small primer and one for the large one.  Now I followed the manual, looked at the video and discovered when the pin that pushes the primer upward it would start to eat up the plastic device that serves as a guide.  Pretty soon you could not use them.  I called and got them to send me some more and it continued.  Well the second time I called them I didn't just ask for more of the plastic guides, i expressed my frustration about having to replace them.  The gal on the other end of the phone, who sounded like about 20 says to me the large rifle guide is the same outside diameter as the inside of the cartridge holder.  Slip the small guide inside the large guide and then the plastic guide will not move......duh!  Now nowhere in any manual does it say that but she was spot on.  I primed 400 rounds last night without a hitch.

regards,
