DUmmies notice Sharia Law

Islam is a vile thing.

Some of them get it over there, but a few of them come out and say what they really think.

Girl gets a year in jail, 100 lashes for adultery

http://www.saudigazette.com.sa/index.cfm?method=home.re...

EDDAH – A 23-year-old unmarried woman was awarded one-year prison term and 100 lashes for committing adultery and trying to abort the resultant fetus.
The District Court in Jeddah pronounced the verdict on Saturday after the girl confessed that she had a forced sexual intercourse with a man who had offered her a ride. The man, the girl confessed, took her to a rest house, east of Jeddah, where he and four of friends assaulted her all night long.
The girl claimed that she became pregnant soon after and went to King Fahd Hospital for Armed Forces in an attempt to carry out an abortion. She was eight weeks’ pregnant then, the hospital confirmed.
According to the ruling, the woman will be sent to a jail outside Jeddah to spend her time and will be lashed after delivery of her baby who will take the mother’s last name. – Okaz/SG

1. I want to live to see the day when this is NOT acceptable in any part of the world

Woman's rights == Human rights

Acceptable response.

67. Better start in America ..... Lots of Christian fundamentalists agree

I am not so sure about the whipping part, but I am certian of the anti-abortion part. I also believe that most fundamentalist would also support the jail sentance.

Better focus on keeping Ohio safe first.

Standard DU "bash a Christian" tactic.

13. We buy their oil and therefore ignore their human rights abuses. nt

Hey I thought it was somehow "wrong" to go and force barbaric sharia shitheads to behave like civilized folk do.

7. Well, the Wahhabists certainly do.

I wouldn't paint all of Islam with that brush, though. The Wahhabists are what Opus Dei or ultra-fundie Protestant types would be if they had total control over the government and the people. They aren't a good representation of Islam as a whole.

Still, women's rights have a long way to go, even in less restrictive (as compared to the aforementioned) Muslim cultures and nations. *sigh*

It's just those nasty fundies that behave like that...

29. there is nothting to indicate that saudi arabia was treating women better before mohammed

when islam started women were given rights for the first time, which was far more than they had before.

a lot of this is the royals controlling saudis with religion as a pretext

The right to be less than livestock possibly.

11. In a global economy, one has to respect differences to a certain point.

Disgraceful and despicable in our mindset, it's still that country's culture to punish the woman regardless. :( :(

Just because they've done it long enough to call it culture gives them no license to continue doing so.

14. It's possible that the abduction thing is a story?

Someone on the thread at the OP link said, in very broken English, something like that. That Saudi women who get pregnant sometimes say they were abducted and raped. Probably because the punishment for willing, unmarried sex is much, much worse(?) Beheading was mentioned.

Quick find a way to excuse the perpetrator on a technicality.

Their lack of knowledge on the subject of Islam is only exceeded by their lack of knowledge on economics.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
