Ruin Your Health With the Obama Stimulus Plan

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”

Hospitals and doctors that are not “meaningful users” of the new system will face penalties.  “Meaningful user” isn’t defined in the bill. That will be left to the HHS secretary, who will be empowered to impose “more stringent measures of meaningful use over time” (511, 518, 540-541)

What penalties will deter your doctor from going beyond the electronically delivered protocols when your condition is atypical or you need an experimental treatment? The vagueness is intentional. In his book, Daschle proposed an appointed body with vast powers to make the “tough” decisions elected politicians won’t make.

The stimulus bill does that, and calls it the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (190-192). The goal, Daschle’s book explained, is to slow the development and use of new medications and technologies because they are driving up costs. He praises Europeans for being more willing to accept “hopeless diagnoses” and “forgo experimental treatments,” and he chastises Americans for expecting too much from the health-care system.

If he can't take over the health care sector, this is the next best thing... limiting your medical treatment to a pre-approved list of options in a government database written by Tom Daschle and a bunch of bean counters.

**** that.

Agreed.  :censored:

My dad, being a radiologist and in his 50's, is considering retiring early instead of dealing with this BS.  I hope you Obama lovers are happy with yourselves.  IMO, a lot of the older (and more experienced) doctors could very well choose early retirement.  Guess what that could mean for health care, dipshits?!

Hospitals get surrounded with concertino wire and guard towers, to keep the staff from defecting?

Just imagine the result when all medical facilities are sued to force them to provide abortions...and don't think it won't happen.  We've seen how pharmacists are treated when they refuse to provide abortifacients.  FOCA will destroy healthcare in this country.

Well sh*t.  My income depends on hospital construction.  When hospitals and their corporate owners can no longer afford to expand/renovate, I'm outta work.  Yup, that's change, just like Oooooobama promised.   :bird:

Sen. Specter Responds to Health Care Scare in Stimulus Bill

(CNSNews.com) – “We are not going to let the federal government monitor what doctors do,” Sen. Arlen Specter told Fox News on Tuesday.

Specter, one of only three Republicans to support the Democrats’ stimulus/spending bill, was responding to growing concerns over health care provisions buried deep in the bill.

*snip*

The Senate bill provides $3 billion to computerize health records to cut costs and reduce medical errors. It also allots $1.1 billion to various federal health agencies “to evaluate the relative effectiveness of different health care services and treatment options,” the bill’s summary says.

Specter said the provision was intended to “provide technology” – to computerize the health records of all Americans. He said the government should not be in the business of making decisions on patients’ treatment.

Hospitals everywhere in this country are already moving toward electronic record keeping, you idiot.

I wonder how long this will last once the Government decided that AIDS isn't worth treating anymore or when one of the mothers of Schumer or Pelosi is dying of pancreatic cancer?

Well, I wonder if that lady that asked for the car, the appliances, etc. will get them?  And, by having the Secretary of Housing or whatever contact her, she is line jumping.

pelosi explained the clearly non-stimulative provision of the emergency stimulus bill, without which we shall surely all perish, as a "down payment" on the still-to-be-written health care reform legislation.

apparently, the $800B that they are going to spend on the nobody-completely-knows-what-is in-it stimulus bill in no way deters them from the $500B health care reform bill.

It will go either of these 2 ways:

"Do you have your papers?"

"You will not receive any assistance without your papers."

Or:

"Go home, take a couple of aspirin, and call me in 6 weeks."

Providing you can even see a doctor in the first place....

My 8th grade Government teacher was right back in 1972, and is still right today:

"If you want the least done for the most amount of money, get the government to do it."

Bumper sticker my son had on his senior year Government notebook:

"US Government Policy:  If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is!"
Murphy's 3rd Law:  "You can't make anything 'idiot DUmmie proof'.  The world will just create a better idiot DUmmie."

Liberals are like Slinkys.  Basically useless, but they do bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs...

Global warming supporters believe that a few hundred million tons of CO2 has more control over our climate than a million mile in diameter, unshielded thermo-nuclear fusion reactor at the middle of the solar system.

You can't fix stupid, but you can vote it out of office.

I've been all over this since this story broke.  I wrote my congresscrud, but I doubt they read it (Upchuck belongs to me).  I wrote the AARP, and they wrote me back, saying "don't listen to the scaremongers on TV, this is a good thing, trust us!"  I wrote back and said "Thanks, but I'm not buying it.  Do not support the slippery slope to socialized medicine, under which retirees will surely suffer, much as they have in the U.K."

I feel utterly powerless.
