Feds Narrowing In On Companies With Ties To Congressman

The FBI raided the offices of a defense lobbying firm with close ties to Democratic Rep. John Murtha (Penn.), sources tell ABC News.

The FBI searched the Virginia headquarters of the PMA Group in November, according to the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. PMA was founded by former Murtha aide Paul Magliochetti and specializes in winning earmarked taxpayer funds for its clients.

Good government groups have long criticized Murtha's cozy relationship with a handful of lobbyists and defense firms, ties that see millions of dollars in government spending go out from Murtha's office, and hundreds of thousands in campaign donations come in. Murtha has said his earmarking has helped revive his economically depressed district.

PMA is the second company with close ties to Murtha to be raided by federal agents recently. In January, agents from the FBI, the IRS and the Defense Criminal Investigative Service searched the office of Kuchera Industries and Kuchera Defense Systems, as well as the homes of the firms' founders. The companies reportedly have received over $100 million in earmarks, thanks to Murtha's efforts.

There's always a chance that the anti-military 0Bama will call off the investigations of the anti-military Murtha. Or he could just halt the case in the middle as he did for his terrorist buddy that bombed the Cole.

Really, thundley, no kidding. I have become completely cynical of our whole process. An honest man can't be found. Even Murtha's idiot constituents voted him in after he insulted them and our military.

Three Tax Cheats get to plead the Steve Martin "I Forgot" defense and 2 are empaneled into the recihstag, rather than being imprisoned as the rest of us would be. Marion Barry gets nailed for drug pushing, gets reelected, then gets the memo fro the DNC and doesn't pay taxes for 9 years and will probably walk.

He didn't just insult his constituents - he insulted everyone of us living in W. PA. I for one called and demanded an apology. I'm still waiting for it - but I demanded it.

I'm afraid I have to agree. They drag their feet when it's a dem under scrutiny - unless of course - a continuing investigation might implicate someone higher up in the party - then they pounce prematurely - BLAGO - but when it's a republican - they're tried and convicted in the media before the evidence is even examined. BTW - I can only assume that because Tom DeLay has fallen of the MSM radar that he was found innocent despite the presses best attempts?

OUCH. He said that W. Pa was racist and redneck. As some one who is neither - I was happy to take offense and to challenge him on his words. Of course he made a non-apology apology and his office was pissed that I was not satisfied with it.
