BEAVER DAM (WKOW) -- Beaver Dam school officials placed a middle school teacher on administrative leave after discovering a photograph of the teacher with a gun on the teacher's Facebook page.

In the photo, teacher Betsy Ramsdale is training a rifle at the camera.

Ramsdale emailed 27 News in response to our inquiries saying she "removed the photo immediately" and that she is not "interested in any controversy."   Ramsdale did not comment on her motivation for posting the photo.

Praise be to Obama she didn't also claim to be a practicing xtian...they probably would have had to fire her altogether.

If her page was publicly accessible, I'd imagine the school has a right to be concerned.  As the picture was one of those stupid 'looking down the barrel' acting tough pictures.  Quite IMHO different and more provocative than merely a hunting pose or target shooting pic.  Which while still perfectly legal, certainly doesn't go along with the 'public' image the schools likely trying to convey.  It also was set as her default profile picture, meaning it's likely anyone googling that teacher, would be sent a picture of her with a gun in their face.

I agree it's a bit overblown though.  Surprisingly the ACLU is defending her! 

If her page was set to private and only her reported friends had access, I really don't see how the school could have a problem with it.  Unless, she was adding everyone she even remotely knew, in which case students and parents had access.  Otherwise, it sounds like she has 'some' friend whom would rather cause a stir at her expense than state they disapproved of a picture

She should have been reminded that pointing a gun at someone is rude. The doing it on "face book" was being rude to everyone who saw it.

Other than that, I compliment her good form and posture for shooting.

You're right. And a handful of people, maybe, know that X is chi and that it is the first letter of the Greek word that translates to Christos or Christ.

Also, ΙΧΘΥΣ, an acrostic of five Greek words, and what's called the Sign of the Fish, stands for "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior." But how many people know that?

Meanwhile, we ain't in the first century. And I'll stick by what I said re: IMO, using X for Christ these days is one way to remove Christ from Christian (and Christmas, too). And I still find it offensive.

Some people don't, though. Their choice, including if and when they use it. So be it.
