Actually, being a person who has no children, I resent paying for the "education" of other peoples kids.
They should at least revoke the deductions for children and apply that to the educational costs.
It is in society's (and thus our) interest to have an educated populace, which means educating kids in an INVESTMENT.
HOWEVER, that investment is NOT paying off, as we can see by the progressive dumbing down of the populace over the last 40 years or so. Now, even in newspapers, the "educated" people can't even properly distinguish between "less" and "fewer" -- writers and editors both.
If I am getting nothing on my investment, I want to reinvest it where it can do some good. How about vouchers?
In my case, I am walking away from my "investment" -- I'll be damned if I will stay in a place where we put the most into education and have the lower education level by any standard.
And the Federal Government should have ZERO involvement in education, except training of our Armed Forces.
