Oh my.

The bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive:

So, Michael Phelps smokes ****ing dope. Why should anyone ****ing care?

It happens that I don't smoke that marihoochie myself - but that's just a personal preference.

Anyone else wants to smoke it? Have at it, and I have no right whatsoever to criticize anyone for doing so.

Just don't drive stoned, OK? That's just like driving drunk.

Uh oh.  The sniffing primitive's significant other, the bi-boobs primitive, appears to be a marijuana apologist:

2. Point of order

"That's just like driving drunk."

While it does effect everyone differently, I think that's a blanket statement that's not exactly true for everyone. YMMV.

6. People say the same thing about alcohol

"I can handle a few drinks, unlike some others. In fact, I'm more careful."

Okay, so it affects everyone different. Let's not experiment on a public road to see how much different is all I think he's saying.

7. Sorry, BB, I can't agree. I've been driving for almost 40 years, almost 2 million miles, and have NEVER gotten a ticket or had an accident (except when people hit me when I was sitting still).

And the reason for that is that I understand that driving is an activity that needs to be taken seriously, and done with a clear head.

No drinking, no dope smoking, no cellphone, no eating lunch, and NO TEXTING!!!

Well, I suppose that was bound to happen, sooner or later, just like sooner or later a meteor's going to smash into the earth.  franksolich agrees with Chief S itting Bull.

19. I agree, for the most part.

Although I have noticed in myself when I get high, that I tend to have slightly slower reflexes.

23. Hence my caution about driving when stoned.

Yeah.

14. "That's just like driving drunk."

Alcohol causes a loss of motor control.

Marijuana does not cause a loss of motor control.

I don't think it impairs driving any more than aspirin or tylenol.

21. Oh, sure it doesn't. Hey, I'm a child of the 1950s and 1960s, so I know from drugs.

15. I think your arguments would be more persuasive if you wrote "****ing" a few more times

My experience is that driving stoned is way way safer than driving drunk. When you're lubed up, your reactions are dulled & slowed down. That's a roadway disaster waiting to happen. When you're fried, you get paranoid and tend to over-react to potential road hazards. That can still cause problems, of course, but it's better to be high and hit the brakes half a block before the stop sign than juiced up and hit the brakes ten feet into the intersection.

22. ...And have someone hit you from behind because you braked too soon. Sorry, lame argument right there.

There's no excuse for driving with ANY impairment. Not matter what you, or any other maryjane apologist may say.

As usual, the moonbats miss the point about Mr. Phelps.

I too, could care less if he smokes pot.  What it shows however, about Mr. Phelps, is that he is an immature idiot.

He was making MILLIONS in endorsements, all he had to do was stay out of trouble for a year or so...that's it.  Should have been easy to do.

So, he goes and has a toke off a bong and blows the whole thing in 7 seconds.

That is an idiot.

I agree.  I don't get it when athletes or other personalities do this, and it's happened time and time again.  Only thing I can figure is they think it's always the other guy who gets caught, not realizing that the other guy could be them.  Really dumb.

The same thing did Eliot Spitzer in.  It's called "arrogance."

I detest people who claim that they drive better while stoned or drunk.  Everyone else knows that they drive like freaking morons on crack while sober and even worse impaired.  They just seem to think it makes there balls look bigger to brag about something so idiotic.

Yeppers, couldn't agree more. If this guy loses all the endorsements he has no one to blame but himself.
He was just incredibly stupid, the press lives for pics like that one.

He'll be forgiven, but it'll cost him in the short run.  Americans love a redemption story a lot more than they love unassailable perfection.
